The show follows the general in charge of space force Steve Carell, as he balances his family life and establishing and maintaining US supremacy in space. Members of the United States military are only portrayed as diverse and good. The worst quality the show ascribes to the military is that they spend too much money. Only two things are portrayed as negative in the show, one is the chief of staff for Trump( who isn't shown), and of course China.

The Chinese attack America unprovoked on 2 seperate occasions in the show, one time using an advanced giant satellite (which doesn't exist), and another time using their secret mining moon base( which doesn't exist).

The space force is explicitly explained as being created as whim by Trump, when in reality it was voted into creation 377-48 by the Democratic party controlled house. Also it has a budget double that of the Chinese in reality, not the other way around.

Seriously folks it stinks.

Also nearly forgot the AOC stand in who is just an loud dumb angry young woman who is eventually rendered speechless by an incredible "America is good actually" speech by Carrel. Awful.

The Pentagon is absolutely bankrolling Netflix. They are like 20 billion in debt.

What other anti-communist stuff have they put out recently? I know the Umbrella Academy season 2 took place during the Cold War but the Russians/communism barely played a role in it.

If anything they painted JFK as the warmonger when a explosion caused by Vanya causes the USA to blame the USSR (which is mentioned they deny part of) leading to the US started the nuclear Armageddon

Didn't the Russians attack the US in Umbrella Academy? And somehow they did so in less than a week.

I think I stomached maybe 2 episodes before giving up. Between the bottom tier lib political humor (just real covefe hours all the time) and the blatant pro-military/anti-China political propoganda it was just crushing unfunny and infuriating.

Oh fuck I just remembered the whole Putin sleeper agent sub plot that made me want to yeet myself out a window. Oof.

The anti-China shit is mostly "friendly competition" except for at the end when the Chinese are shown to be backstabbing and aggressive by destroying the US moonbase.

honestly, the US is shown almost exactly the same way as China is, except China is bellicose AND competent, while everyone in the US side is incompetent.

And more than anything else...it's painfully not funny.

I feel like 40+ year old men have a certain kind of tired humor that feels more sad and tired than funny, and this show is epitome of that

Also prime example of how everyone thought Trump would be great for comedy then proceeded to repeat the same 3 jokes for his whole term.

That one time where the gas station guy joked that Steve Carrell would have to kidnap him because he knew he was a general, and Steve Carrell laughs with him. Then ten minutes later, when you forgot about that scene, you see that he actually did kidnap the guy. That is the only funny part of the show, but it’s a banger. Caught me completely off guard.

When you hate a mild succdem so much you make an entire show just so you can make a fake version of her to berate
