Do you seriously think that if Russia had waited for Ukraine to invade Donbass, libs would say “actually it’s Ukraine’s fault”? No, Ukraine could launch a full scale amphibious D-Day assault on Crimea and libs will still cheer on them to take back their land.

The vast majority of libs have never heard of Donbass before. Might as well talk to them about Candyland for all it matters

Plus the ones who do know about Donbass think that the Russians invaded in 2014 and that all the fighting in Donbas has been done by Russian troops pretending not to be Russian troops. They also think that Russia invaded Crimea and is occupying it using force, instead of just, like... swapping the flags because everyone in Crimea is already Russian.

evacuating the TSMC specialists just means they handicap everyone involved. wafer fab is a very complicated process and if any cog is missing you gotta do a lot of training and fixing to replace that cog. and its not like you can just copy paste them onto some new site. new equipment means new training. many years of delay, potentially decades, will be the case

tbf the soviets did have some amazing spies (turns out communism is a good motivator when you live in a capitalist hellhole) that fed the designs to them. so they got parallel research out of it

If you believe the popular media of a few years ago China has root access to every network in America and knows everything that every tech company has done for the last ten years. And to that I say "Well done chaps!"

they already have plans to evacuate all the TSMC specialists to the US and to sabotage whatever’s left in Taiwan to make sure China cannot gain access to their semiconductor technology

When your country exists just to be a semiconductor factory.

Its been operating as a satrap of the American empire, on par with SK, Japan, and the Philippines.

But it isn't soveign in any practical sense. Taiwan can't exist independent of the mainland. They're not Cuba or North Korea.

They're just saying this for proganda reasons. Even if they did have conclusive intel one way or another they'd still be saying "Oh yeah China is going to invade and start eating babies any day now!" to manufacture consent for their war.

Taiwan is much smaller, but i expect resistance to be much better organized than Ukraine. Unless the PRC convinces everyone there to just surrender, but i doubt the US would let that happen.

taiwan is an even greater lost cause than ukraine. it would be trivial for such a numerically superior power such as china to take the island at this point. and a good amount of the population supports the idea even. all of its major cities are on the coast near large rivers that big ships can sail into. the american navy is so stretched thin that it would take them at least 3-7 days to amass the whole navy and get anywhere near to being able to compete with chinas ships off their own coast. and if they do compete with china there that essentially means the american global empire is over because they put all the eggs in one basket.

without US/Japanese naval aid theres really no chance

the only reason they havent done this is they wanted their own industries and independence first and would prefer a peaceful solution anyways in order to keep the TSMC setup as intact as possible

taiwan is still an island which massively bottlenecks China's advantages. an opposed amphibious landing has not yet been done with modern peer forces to my knowledge and my instinct is very, very, gruesome for everyone involved

The people most pro-Ukrainian are fascist Ukrainian paramilitary while the people most pro-Taiwan independence are a bunch of petty bourgeois activists who dodge conscription.

Before Russia invaded Ukraine, Putin was clearly warning military action was on the table if negotiations were not advancing. So, of course, we didn't negotiate seriously. The left didn't think it would happen because the US is generally full of shit, and it was a wreckless thing for Russia to do... but the signs of an invasion were there: Putin warning about war and military forces being mobilized along the border.

If China starts mobilizing the military to prep for an invasion, and Xi gives warning about war, it's probably safe to start worrying, and it would most certainly be preceded by Taiwan seperatists and the US behaving provocatively. Otherwise, China would clearly prefer a peaceful reuinification process.

yeah China would need to mobilize a very large and impossible to miss force, and the US will be saying invasion is days away not a year

It's pure propaganda. They're manufacturing consent. Even if it's real the reason they're showing it to the public is to manufacture consent.

Just going to sit here screaming "China is going to kill all of you!" across the island until every Taiwanese resident is vibrating with paranoia.

Then we install super sonic mid-range nuclear missiles on the island and reenact the Cuba Missile Crisis in reverse.

It's just the US trying to provoke war there rather than China doing anything.

They'll create artificial panic and start arming Taiwan like crazy to a point that China will start considering it a great threat and might actually invade.

I hope that Taiwanese citizens see that the empire is trying to sacrifice them.

Why would the US warn about this? Would it not be their duty to help China fully recover Taiwan in accordance with the Cairo Declaration and Potsdam Proclamation?

America could execute every CEO, denazify itself, completely overhaul it's system of government, and nationalize every industry by the end of the year

Roughly equivalent in likelihood I think

    Don't take the bait, Xi!
