The thing is that it won't just destroy america, but the entire world. Volcanic winter is a sure way for a mass die-off.

Yellow vests should be making a comeback. I can only hope there are enough pissed-off people to spontaneously march down the streets so it brings back the movement from the dead. Inshallah.

My cat only sees me as a tool of capitalist oppression. She knows she gets fed twice a day but she gets hungry two hours before feeding time.

I'm ML bruh. I give her the best food twice a day and if I give her anymore she will puke. I would say she's ready to go to space, but she would probably puke in the spaceship.

Idk maybe. The other day I dreamed about her dragging my ass out of bed to feed her and then I woke up and she was on the window sill just staring at me.

volcanic ash blocks out the sun, global dimming
ruins crop yields in the global north
allows the global south to cool down a bit, minimal effect on crops due to sun-rich equatorial geography

      actually based

I mean, that would just lead to the global north invading the global south. And the global north has all the fancy military hardware, so I think we all know how that would turn out.

I hate to break the news but the US Geological Survey says that Yellowstone will likely never have a supereruption. Just lame lava flows and petty stuff.

The Discovery Channel documentary about the big yellowstone cauldron really fucked me up as a kid.

    Is it acting up?

fema projects that nearly thirteen thousand people will die in the Cascadia earthquake and tsunami. Another twenty-seven thousand will be injured, and the agency expects that it will need to provide shelter for a million displaced people, and food and water for another two and a half million. “This is one time that I’m hoping all the science is wrong, and it won’t happen for another thousand years,” Murphy says.

That's it? Damn that's really nothing, considering.

it really does, I'd read the Cascadia article before but didn't know about this, thanks for sharing

I am somehow simultaneously impressed by the effort, ingenuity and hubris of the whole thing, everything is extraordinary

I was wondering what other human lifespan-time disasters could be lurking after learning about something as catastrophic as the ARkStorm only recently

Yeah, anytime you pick a fight with nature, you're eventually going to lose. Especially when it involves water. And structures maintained by the government during late stage capitalism.
