didn't Harris say that they wouldn't do a mask mandate, only a "suggestion" or a "recommendation" or some noncommittal bullshit?

It's probably half this and half that a mask mandate probably wouldn't fly from a legal perspective if implemented by the federal government. Just in enforcement terms it would be dead in the water in any red area.

The real criticism of Dems here is that they're talking about masks instead of M4A, a steady stream of checks until this is all over, a national eviction/foreclosure moratorium, etc.

It would be an insult to the 200k dead to implement m4a

We basically made the same post at the same time.

The CHUDs are gonna keep refusing to wear a mask, Congress will continue to do nothing to help working and out of work people, and Biden will not utilize his powers as president to change course. Healthcare will remain unaffordable and out of reach for millions of people in this country. I actually expect that money will be taken away from social programs to fund some sort of half-assed response from Biden to show he's doing 'something', but it will be an ineffectual response. Like....mailing a mask to every household in the country, but it's actually a neck gaiter unlikely to do anything to stop the spread.

What will libs' excuses be? And will the deaths that come be laid at the feet of Biden?

Nah, they will pretend that everything is fine and that everything is getting better, and they’ll go get brunch so they can spread the disease and kill their waitstaff’s roommate’s grandmother.

Imo the corona virus so clearly demonstrates that liberal democracy is bourgeois dictatorship. It is not the protection of human life or even the economy that is prioritised, but the narrow interests of the capitalist class.

Not that there is no concern for human life among some people in western governments, just that the whole system is set up to make it nigh impossible to actually go against the interests capitalist class.

In the West, before the government does anything, it has to negotiate with the business sector. I find this to be unimaginable in China. As a company, as a capitalist, you can make money, but if the CPC says 'jump' you better ask how high.

In the West, the bourgeoisie made obscene amounts of money while the proletariat is left in pergatory with the virus still around and no economic opportunities. In China, people are having giant pool parties and the economy is already recovering.

Whether China is socialist or not , it is clear that they have a considerable amount of control over capitalists, which is completely unimaginable in the West. Because whether it is the Dems, Repubs or any other western party in power, they always answer to the bourgeoisie not the people.

A take on China that's pretty damn hard to disagree with.

Covid would be worse if Obama/Hillary/Biden was president. Republicans in congress would've forced austerity, conservative activists would've been even more insane about anti mask stuff.

It's totally unclear if they would've taken things more seriously during the onset.

C'mon man! The Dems would have been more competent in their handling of the crisis, just look at the corresponding party to the Dems in the UK: the Tories. We are about to go into a second lockdown ready for our second wave whereas Cheeto hasn't even gotten the US through Wave 1.

Edit I meant that the Dems are Tories
