So easy, you nerd. Play a game that came out after 1996.
- Gusty Garden Galaxy - Super Mario Galaxy
- Sunset Bridge - Persona 5
- Keep Your Faith - Persona 5 Royal
- Catherine - Lamb Game Between Man and Woman
- Main Theme/Nightfall in the Undercity - Final Fantasy 7
- Dearly Beloved - Kingdom Hearts II
- Moon Reaching Out to the Stars - Persona 3
- Let's Dance Boys! - Bayonetta
hope this helps
Edit: I just thought about it and tbh Minecraft's soundtrack is also top tier & yet I didn't even consider it. The latter half of Mice on Venus (what did C418 know about the news today about Venus???) and Danny are seared into my memories from summer nights playing Java Beta 1.5 til 4am with my younger brother.
Oof, if you’re gonna hit me with the FFVII main theme it’s gonna be extremely hard to argue
You have no idea how long I stood still listening to the new version of that track when it finally played in full for the first time as I was playing through the remake when it came out in April. Honestly it hits me a little harder than the original does - maybe because I hadn't heard it in like at least ten years.
Was really on edge when they said they were doing an FF7 remake, as I was not a huge fan of 13 or 15.
But they really nailed it. If FF7 Remake is the engine for future games, the series has plenty of life left in it.
They really did nail the remake. My only gripe with it the entire game was the fact that AERITH'S FUCKING BASIC ATTACKS ARE SO GODDAMN SLOW COMPARED TO EVERYONE ELSE AHHH
Yeah, but she's got range and she doesn't need to reload. I think they were trying to play it safe with her, and went a little too conservative.
also holy shit, you posted a Zelda track and I completely forgot.
Grandma's Theme > Gerudo Valley, all day every day
Fuck dude, the WW soundtrack is so good. I’m a sucker for most nostalgic Zelda tracks tbh I just posted this because I was vining it tonight. Cool that you didn’t go with most people’s choice of Outset Island from WW!
Yeah, Zelda as a series probably has the most consistent quality soundtracks out of any games I've played beyond Persona/SMT.
To be honest, Outset Island is good but it isn't a favorite. I have much more nostalgia for Grandma's theme, especially since when I first played through WW at my uncle's house on his game-cube he refused to help me at any point - and since I was only ever there for an hour or two after school when my parents were busy - I never could figure out how to heal grandma's sickness so I would always return to Outset after playing for a bit and run into the house & see if she'd been magically healed via my progression. Uncle was a bastard who didn't want me to get the Elixir Soup until I replayed it years later on the Wii U :angery:
Fi's Gratitude, Lake Hylia, the Hyrule Symphony version of Lon Lon Ranch , and the damn choral version of Zelda's Lullaby that I TO THIS DAY CANNOT FIND A DECENT VERSION OF are by far my favorite tracks throughout the series I think.
Don't hit me in the feels with Fi's Gratitude. I don't care what anyone says that game was a masterpiece and I love Fi 😭
You have no idea how much hope I have in my heart that with Zelda's 35th being next year, we'll see a Zelda version of Mario 3D All-Stars with Switch ports of Twilight Princess, Wind Waker, and Skyward Sword. Please Nintendo, I don't want to have to pull out my Wii U from my closet to play WW and Skyward Sword again </3
that would be cool, I was thinking about seeing if I could get the virtual console stuff on my wiiu so I'd have most of the games on there.
Windfall Isle is where it is at, even though it's just an altered Kakoriko village, it's a good one.
So funny how the video turns from vaguely representative of the world's history to BOOM it's America now, that's all the history you need. Also did you know they traded pearls with the natives? Totally didn't do a genocide. Or a slavery. Just had a guy with a beard and a cool green statue and a space shuttle!
Not posting Bloody Tears
You fool. You miserable pile of secrets.

aw shit I haven't heard this since I played the Rondo of Blood remake on the PSP.
There are so many good versions of this on youtube too.. I just like this one since it sounds like the original.
glad you dig it! guy was a genuine genius at vgm on old hardware. he'd go all out even for a pictionary game lmao . unfortunately his music was often the only good part of the game (so i've heard, i've never played any of these lol)! but it's all worth listening if you like what you hear :)
he's so good. he churned out tons of proggy chiptune with not a bad tune in the bunch. here's another gem but it's all worth a listen!
haha he did! i love the plok ost, i was considering leading with that over silver surfer. great sound! his other 16bit work is amazing too
Oh wow, I didn't know the NES could do that, that's fucking talent.
You all had noble contenders, but none truly stood a chance.

I can only think of Duane and Brando's Mega Man II rap when I hear that track now, probably because I listened to that and the Final Fantasy Rap (the superior track tbh.) probably like three times a day back in middle school lol.
Hahaha. That's great.
I've had the opportunity to catch The Protomen live in concert. Now that's all I can think of when I go retro on Megaman.
Light up the Night btw... very cool.
holy fuck that track is great, how have the protomen completely eclipsed me thus far
I honestly wouldn't know about them if I hadn't gone to school in Austin and had a friend with a giant crush on one of the singers.

yes that is the soviet march from red alert
Let the obligatory Undertale argument start...
Hopes And Dreams https://youtu.be/lGaneyDfyls
ASGORE https://youtu.be/pcamjcoRmrQ
Nah. It's more like that the soundtrack is filled to the brim with insanely catchy songs and everybody got their favourites. It's really hard to choose and fun to argue about.
Special shoutout to Crypt of the Necrodancer
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=12R48a6DNz8
If you play with the shopkeeper's singing off you're the worst kind of person FYI.
Necrodancer is so fucking good. I literally fucked a guy to the soundtrack once.
Music and gameplay both top tier. Legendary game. There's a reason nintendo fucks w/ them for the zelda game which I haven't played yet.
I haven’t either but I should see if that booty call is up for round 2 so I can listen to the new soundtrack. I won’t even insist on using a strap on this time.
Chrono Trigger, Magus' theme: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5CW6kLFyyi8
Honestly, a little surprised you didn't go with Frog's Theme: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8bqGGUwc2-s
It's because he's a little green frog with a big ass broadsword and his tune is Big Energy Bawler AF
I enjoy this a lot, never played CT but a big fan of FF in this era, hits hard for me
Bro oh my god please play it. It's so much better than any other RPG you've played.
Also yeah check Frog's theme that @zifnab25 posted.
I just have a weakness for banjos', okay
But for real, everyone here needs to check out Outer Wilds, it's lifechanging
Outer Wilds is my favourite gaming experience in probably the past 10 years. I highly recommend everyone who hasn't played it to not look up anything about it and just give it a try.
It doesn't work with my controller and mouse control kinda feels very wrong. 😔
Strange, usually games that come out for consoles are solid with controller mapping. It worked for me, but I'm using an XB1 controller for my pc. Agreed that this is the type of game that works best with a controller, but still worth playing with mouse + keyboard IMO.
VERY MINOR SPOILER FOR OUTER WILD WILDS BELOW, I CANT FIGURE OUT THE GOD DAMN SPOILER TAG
I really enjoyed it, but kinda could’ve lived without the time loop. Towards the end I found that I was just rushing around being like “have to get to X within 20 minutes to reach another clue!!”, which really kind of detracted from the chill space exploration vibe. Still a great game, but I kinda wish there was an outer wilds with 100 more little planets and no time limit, so I could just cruise around in space for 20 hours and explore.
I mean, you can’t really remove that game mechanic without completely changing the plot as well. Just a minor gripe I had with it.
That game started so strong with Another Winter
Oh and you haven't heard the news?
literally just the entirety of the shadow of the colossus OST. fight me nerds, you know damn well I'm right. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=57jIlw6HmCE
I was about to say lol, if this dude likes flamenco, then Zero is a must
