I wear a mask but I’m basically the only one I know. And the people I live with don’t wear one at all so I am 100% confident my wearing it is literally pointless.

I see some people outside with masks but it’s those disposable/surgical ones that we know don’t do shit against covid. At that point just don’t wear one lol. I don’t know even if N95 is good enough now but it’s the one I wear.

    I do :I-was-saying:

I sometimes get passive-aggressive shit from :grillman: about it, but fuck 'em. I'm actually glad I'm an uncomfortable reminder that all is not well in BurgerLand.

Still mask up whenever I got shopping anywhere. I don't intend to ever stop quite honestly.

Edit: I'm pretty lax about masking at restaurants and other social events though to be honest.

I've never felt it was wise to place my safety in the consensus of the general public, or even my chuddish family for that matter. This goes both ways of course, I was arrested for exploding firecrackers in a welding-gloved hand and laughing my ass off.

My S.O. and I are old and high risk for death and the more I learn about long covid the more I'm convinced that it's literally a death sentence for us. We mask up, don't go out and even order our meager groceries for delivery now.

One of those "if your friend jumped off a cliff" conundrums.

If everyone did this for two months the world would be cured of the OG strain and no variants would’ve ever evolved.

Everyone has food in their mouths so the covid can't get in :think-about-it:

Also any building with a revolving door, covid can't figure those out so those are safe too

I'll be honest: I don't. Mainly cuz I've just given up hope that this is gonna be under control anytime in the foreseeable future. I honestly think it's the main reason for most people: Fatigue and hopelessness, as opposed to outright anti-mask hostility.

I'm autistic, so feeling something on my face did legitimately bother me, but I only stopped wearing it a few months ago. I was more willing to put up with the discomfort when I had a semblance of hope that there was some sort of light at the end of the tunnel, but eventually just threw up my hands when it became clear this is how it's gonna be indefinitely. So my current plan can be best summed up as "Vaxxed and Unrelaxed": Get new boosters whenever they come out, hope luck is on my side, and pray for some sort of miracle.

First I'm going to apologize for getting angry. Deleted my dumbass comment

Not against public masking, I just think passing moral judgement on weather someone does it or not, at this stage, is pretty misguided. 99.9% of people don't mask up where I live, I'm pretty much the only person wearing one. Are 99.9% of people bad people? No, of course not, they're just misguided.

Just to be clear the thing that I referenced as good is the premise that people in this community feel social pressure towards wearing masks still

It is I, the one true leftist! I have superior opinions on everything and win every online debate. I have never done a single thing to build communism, that is why I'm the one true leftist!

of course I do, there's a pandemic going on. I wear a mask all day at work, if I'm going into any building for any period of time, I have eaten at a restaurant like, once since 2020. Feels like I should at least be doing the literal least you could do

My girlfriend made me promise to never die, so I'm bound to this mortal coil for the foreseeable future. If I'm going to be here, I'd like to be here without my lungs turning into concrete.

I wear masks in shared indoor spaces (like stores and stuff), but not just when walking around outside, unless it's particularly crowded (I'll put a mask on if I'm walking past a bus stop or whatever).

I've had two colds* in the last two years, and no covid. One cold came from my one friend who's a disaster. The other cold was a total mystery, and may actually have been from outdoor transmission.

*Things that present as cold-like symptoms for 3-5 days, not necessarily the common cold. Could be an actual cold, the flu, unnamed crud, covid but my tests went false-negative, allergies. I dunno.

I never stopped wearing a mask when going out in public anywhere there’s going to be people within 10 feet of me, so pretty much everywhere that isn’t like the local park.

it’s not at all an inconvenience to wear a mask and I personally haven’t been sick at all in like 2 years.

Yeah definitely lucky. I don’t attribute it just to masking up, Im not going out to crowded places often and never stopped taking other precautions either.

I don't follow how living with unmasked housemates could make your wearing one pointless (unless you're just expressing frustration and in that case i totally get it). Also a surgical mask is undoubtedly better than no mask at all.

I wear a kn95 in all public indoor places, outdoors if there are a lot of people, and simply don't eat inside restaurants or go to shows. For me the dissonance of risking a serious outcome or long covid, and of spreading those risks to other people all because of my choice to consume an entertainment experience, is not worth it.

I follow that same pattern and I haven’t had so much as a cold in three years. Really wish it had occurred to me to wear masks earlier in life.

Still masking pretty much everywhere. I unfortunately caught covid around december-ish because i was being lax and didn't mask in a restaurant. Not making that mistake again.
