Women are expected to be short as a requirement instead

I grew up with a guy who was pretty open about that. It was probably just like you'd expect: He talked about desperately wanting to find a girl shorter than him, get married, and have kids. He had a role in mind for this human prop in his life, and he'd already imagined a body for her too.

I never heard him say anything that suggested he wanted a partner - I guess he wanted a waifu. In retrospect, I never heard him talk about girls without sounding like he was talking about some awe-inspiring, half-sapient mythical creatures

I think the standard is unfortunately a lot worse for guys though. Like most dudes will only date a girl shorter than them, but I don't think there's as many guys expecting a huge height gap as girls, probably some but not as many (although most guys definitely fetishize big height gaps). Some girls will be like 5'4 and not settle for 5'10 (from what I've heard this is also more common in the US than other countries though)

Is this actually true? Seems like a safe bet to be a preference, but I wonder how many consider it a hard rule.

I've always found the obsession with height to be super strange. I'm a very short man by US standards, but height has never entered the equation for me. My first girlfriend was a full head taller than me (she was about as tall as I was short) and I thought it was dope. She revealed later to me that she sometimes felt ashamed to be seen with me in public, which I think was less about me and more about her feeling like a brute, and I hate that she was made to feel that way by dumb standards.

There's plenty of other things where I look in the mirror and wish this or that were a bit different, but if you gave me a button that made me grow an inch taller every time I pressed it, I wouldn't press it once. Being short is cool. You're nimbler, less prone to injury and illness, and comfy when others are cramped. It is insanity that there are parents who will give their prepubescent children fucking HGH injections to avoid the horror of them being a little on the short side.

I kind of prefer that a woman can sit on my lap and kiss me comfortably. If it wouldn't be feasible to kiss during sex, I'm less interested.

It's not a deal-breaker but unfortunately there is a sizeable chunk of women this works against.

I've had women admit to me that the primary reason they went on a date was my height. It's basically the male equivalent of having big tiddys. It matters a ton for some, and for others it's not really important.

All beauty standards are socially constructed and rarely make sense. You'd think the most important stuff would be "oh is he funny, does he treat me well, is he safe, blah blah blah" but no, our culture goes says height is the most important marker or whatever.

There are so many women who only want someone that's toxically masculine and then wonder why all their relationships are terrible

I was blissfully ignorant for the longest time. It wasn't until I started wondering why my boring and smelly roommate always had so many girls around, or my co-worker who was known to be scary and abusive slept through the entire staff. They were average looking, and had very unattractive qualities to my bi-sexual self. Apparently their height made them extremely attractive and women couldn't resist them.

Societal norms are absolutely fucked. It makes me wary of being with a woman taller than me because of how she might see me. I don't give a shit if someone's a foot taller or a foot shorter, they just need to hate capitalism as much as I do.

On the other hand, it's a great way of filtering out awful people.
