OH MY FUCKING GOD, these fucking people are the ones who complain about "tankie" censorship while simultaneously banning anyone who doesn't adhere to their anticommunist unfalsifiable orthodoxy. They use the same talking points all the time, which we've debunked COUNTLESS TIMES, and REFUSE to listen to any points we make. It's really hard to interact with people when they themselves are the ones who've been poisoned by so much propaganda they automatically refuse any good-faith discussion.

I have gained a lot of sympathy for the comrades who post here from lemmy.ml. That place is rancid holy smokes, the entire thread is full of some of the most bazinga brain libs I've seen in my life. Extremely weird understanding of politics, double standards for what counts as censorship, absolutely 0 effort to try to understand what Dessalines is trying to say, no consistency in terms in general. I'm so glad I only have to see the 1/400 people that come here rather than existing in that space. Literally worse than /r/neoliberal.

Yeah, it's like they left reddit because it wasn't reddit enough for them. No idea how anyone can tolerate putting up with them, though those that do, do great work, I've seen a lot more lemmy accounts actually learning stuff thanks to them.

        copy/pasted from above:

i was a reddit refugee and now they’ve made me a lemmy.ml refugee; why can’t they just go back to digg or myspace or something?!

It's a real goofy time over there, haha. A lib tried to Ultra me and tell me Lemmy is Capitalist because posting is Value, and asserted that I haven't read Marx, only being exposed to Lenin via memes.

    Deeply unserious people.

If they try to swing back again I will, but I think they finally realized how cooked they are.

That, or they were trolling the entire time to make me look better, but it's .world so I doubt it lol

If a website (like Twitter or facebook) make money off ads and our posts bring viewers to ads then yeah us posting creates value in some way for the capitalists who own the websites.

I don't think lemmy has ads though? I never see them if it does.

Wtf was their point anyway? "You claim to hate capitalism, yet you participate in capitalism. Curious!" posting? Classic reactionary dipshittery

Lemmy has no ads whatsoever, it's FOSS. Some Lemmy apps do, like Sync.

Their point seemed to be that the devs are actually hypocrites and admins are basically bourgeoisie.

When this site launched our slur filter even did substitutions. It would replace things like "Israel" with "Occupied Palestine" and "North Korea" with "Democratic People's Republic of Korea." We figured out that had to go as soon as somebody tried posting "Death to Israel."

The old boogymen of Hexbear and Grad are invisible, so .world will saber rattle from time to time. .ml believes in an interconnected fediverse, so they don't plan on defeding, and .world wants to maintain their image of being impartial.

I imagine eventually the contradiction will be resolved and some inciting incident will leave us with .world defeding and a multipolar Lemmy arising.

Honestly if the Lemmy creators are ML I don't understand why they don't just tell .world to fuck off. They're not constructive to have in the fediverse and all they do is lower the quality of the place while spreading red scare style disinfo.

Dessalines said it's because they value an interconnected fediverse, and believe in the long run it will be better to not defed from any major instance, despite the skirmishes.

I largely agree, if Hexbear and Lemmygrad can't serve that role or don't want to, it's good to have at least one major instance to expose libs to Marxism. Even if my experience would be better on Grad or Hexbear, I still like being able to try to lead libs to theory.

You're a hero. I've dealt with Reddit chuds for ages but once I found this place I completely abandoned the rest of the internet, I have enough brainworms to disinfect from people around me IRL. It takes some real dedication to keep patiently talking with those nerds.

Pretty sure one of the lemmy devs did tell them to fuck off but it was the beehaw admins who were acting like they were customers and the devs own them updates

Thats why there was a push to get people to support sublinks because they think that building a fediverse forum from zero in java is easier than leaning rust and supporting the evil tankie devs
