I think there's another timeline where that happens but she's in too deep on this one. Even if that's the case, and even if she ever realizes it, and even if she even considers doing something about it instead of shoving it back down ... her entire social circle is now transphobes. Her previous two books were heinously transphobic - in one of them she openly acknowledges that she knows she's increasing the likelihood of trans suicides with that book, she cites a study saying as much, in story, about how casting trans women as serial killers and monsters is going to get real life trans people killed - and then the story simply lumbers on doing EXACTLY THAT.
If that's what's going on ... I can't even imagine where she would start...
