If you really want to know another bad detail, there's one in this spoiler

In some of the south - I think Georgia in particular but almost certainly others - the pigs have been given the right to interrogate people for having a miscarriage. It's so goddamn fucked, and I don't know how I'd avoid catching prison or "dying after an interaction with police" if it happened to someone I knew

My spouse and I have talked about it. The short term plan is to move to a state where we'd be more likely to have time to flee when shit finally gives, which probably means southern california for us

Then if we haven't gotten our shit together and emigrated by that time, we'll hopefully at least stand a chance of reaching Mexico. From there we'd probably be trying for refugee status starting with Cuba. Their constitution explicitly allows them to take in political refugees, but of course nothing's guaranteed

You're wrong about that. Europeans tell me America is the greatest country on Earth. Would you rather live in China or Russia where they'll behead you for even thinking about abortion? I didn't think so.

Yeah, it's real. I'm trying to get off facebook as much as possible but it's the only place I can reach a lot of my friends. : p

I also need to find an alternative end to end encryption for phone calls and sms since Signal stopped doing it. : p

There's all kinds of shit going on right now - A lot of apps, especially facebook and google bullshit, track your location in real time to the meter. that means they know if you went to planned parenthood, how many times, when, how long you were there, etc. All permanently recorded, all available to the fash if they ask nicely or get a subpoena, state laws depending.

There was an article about a Sheriff in Cali sharing license plate reader data with other states in flagrant violation of California law. License plate readers are automatic systems installed in cop cars that register the plate of every car they pass, time stamp it and geolocate it. Then they can send it to other cops.

If you provide an easy alternative and suffix it with a “I am not reachable on x” I’ve had success. Your results may vary.

As far everything else… I agree. It’s terrifying. Rage-inducing, even. People who see this and understand, we are watching the foundations of a literal cyberpunk k dystopia be built.

No online service with legal ties to the United States (which scarily includes hexbear itself) is going to be safe from persecution.

The lookup tools I've tried say France via OVH, and protected by Cloudflare. But OVH, Cloudflare, and the .net registry have legal connections to the United States. That's fine for a general purpose forum. But that's three avenues for American prosecutors to attack Hexbear without even factoring in the nationalities of the admins.

Edit: I don't want to come across as hostile to the way the site is set up and administered. I just think that Americans need to start being very careful about what they say on forums legally linked to American citizens and companies, and not to assume that a site is safe because it's hosted outside the US.

personally I would reccommend to anyone worried by things like this abortion ruling a simple rule whereby you avoid posting anything incriminating online. It's too hard to keep track of what's hosted where you won't do it.

i feel like that too. i feel like when we see footage of biden and zilensky and shit interacting, rn we just see it as how its presented to us but in 100 years people are going to be viewing it the way we look at hitler footage today.

you have this evil decrepit old fuck in his aviator shades doing finger guns at the camera, next to the ukranian actor who dresses up like a tom clancy character while ordering his nazi batallion with the money our tax dollars gave him while americans drown under "inflation" and debt and food insecurity. it's some truly evil sickening shit. the only upside is that biden is old enough that he's probably gonna die soon inshallah. and of course i say that knowing 'nothing will fundamentally change'. i don't even have hope for that at this point. i'd just be happy to live in a world where he's not in it and i hope trump and bush and clinton follow soon after since they're all up there in age now too

the chinese communist party of chinese communists measures your testosterone and penis size in your sleep and they remove inches and testosterone from those with the biggest penises and most testosterone and give it to the most beta beta males of their society. this is how they plan to create the soros army of antifascist nazi fascist communists. by taking from those who earned it and giving to those who didnt

and once they finally create their nazi antifa supersoldiers they're coming straight to buckthorne, indiana and closing down the town's applebee's

The medical term for a miscarriage is 'spontaneous abortion'. Abortion drugs basically just nudge the body toward that function. There are herbs and food additives that can do this. It is often impossible to distinguish an accidental abortion from a deliberate one, biologically. That is why criminalization of abortion is, right from its foundations, indistinguishable from criminalization of having a uterus.

Does this apply to WhatsApp? That's end to end encrypted right? So technically, not even WhatsApp itself can see the content of your messages

If it does apply to WhatsApp, the rest of the world is screwed, because that's replaced text messaging in a ton of countries. The encryption should prevent them from seeing your messages, but law enforcement will definitely have access to your contacts list and time online.

I’m sure they can just take your phone in that case and compel you to unlock it in the US or clone it or whatever.

Even SMS isn’t safe not only because of MITM attacks but I think ATT has the worst data retention policy like multiple years before deleting. The other carriers are better.

compel you to unlock it in the US

iirc (i am not a lawyer do not use me as legal advice) you cannot be compelled to unlock a phone in the US and can theoretically plead the 5th if they ask for a passcode, depending on the state. NJ Hexbears, don't even bother - you're fucked.

Biometrics are a different story from what I remember. They can certainly demand you put each finger on your home button, or look at the device while it tries FaceID.

You should assume that it does. Facebook already has a system foe sending bulk messages back to itself from the recipient, allegedly so that abusive chat can be reported. They could just use that to remotely retrieve whatever they wanted.
