Honestly it's because they aren't meant to be likeable for us, they're meant to be likeable for the ruling class. Of course as the ruling class continues to get more and more alienated from the working class, their representatives get further and further from being relatable to the working class.

I do think most people have an instinctual rejection of them though, which is a major reason why most people don't vote or engage with politics at all.
It's the natural selection process.
They can only choose the people who are available, and these cretins are the only ones that want the job.
