Also no fucking wonder they had a revolution immediately after all these things were made, it seems like the Romanovs were spending the entire country’s gdp on these god damn decorations. The whole exhibit felt like

Food for peasants $200

Working conditions $150

Military $800

Fancy Egg™ $1.2 billion

Utilities $150

someone who is good at the economy please help me budget this, my family dying (they’re being killed by revolutionaries)

This picture encapsulates what I felt when touring Vatican City and the museum. All of this wealth and opulence stripped and stolen from around the world, or custom made at the whims of the Pope. St. Peters Basilica is absurdly ornate, and outside the walls there's people with deformities begging for euros with a picture of the Pope next to their hat. The halls of power are black hearted and wicked.

Vitaly Polyakov, After Storming the Winter Palace, depicting a soviet revolutionary in awe of the wealth and luxury that the royals lived in.

It hits pretty hard. Poor fuck, finally grabbed a rifle and stormed the castle, only to find the nation's wealth squandered away on this stupid bullshit while him and his family starved.
