This could just be kind of general evasiveness + contempt for the person she's talking to. He asks something, she doesn't want to talk about it, she engages in admittedly not the most skillful deflection by offering a pleasantry and continues on talking about what she wants to talk about while ignoring what he wants to talk about. That's just being a politician 101. If she were to say "yeah fuck the Republicans, it's on now" she'd go places she doesn't want to go nor does the party and if she said "uh no we're not going to do anything and just hope they place nice" then Democratic voters would be seething about her, but by not addressing it you don't get any kind of "Dem's are deranged and hate the constitution, more next on Fox News"/"Democrats need to grow a spine, why Nancy Pelosi was wrong to take options off the table by Vox" type clips and reply content plus media cycle, it's avoiding controversy. I've seen similar deflections from older generations that use the same kind of tact, of offering a pleasantry (time of day often) to let the other party know they can hear them but they want to go down a different track, it's like mentally starting a new conversation, it's a kind of power move, kind of an implied "excuse you".
Also TBH I wouldn't give ABC's head anchor any respect or heed either. All the bourgeois press is obviously propaganda but he's probably the most whimpering, pathetic, weak of all the head anchors and I think that's not hard to smell and act accordingly around. As I said. She didn't want to talk about it because it's a no-win situation, better to just let the press rally their voters with editorials and stay relatively non-committal.
