Well the revolutions of 1848 were very much on their way when the first edition was published in that February, so revolutionary fervour was sweeping around Europe at the time. It wasn't just people were starting to radicalize and wake up.
Political banquets were happening in France by middle class (bourgeois) activists, starting that previous summer, as a way to circumvent the governmental restriction on political meetings. Wikipedia says Friedrich Engels attended in October 1847.

Another good thing is that the youth weren't as exposed to Cold War propaganda as some of the older generation, which makes it a lot easier to expose our ideas
In my experience, the majority of boomers and gen x to a slightly lesser extent are still really anti-communist.
From MSNBC libs to apolitical “centrists” to MAGA chuds. (I don’t know any boomers to the left of MSNBC libs).
I’m sure it’s very difficult to deprogram yourself from all of the propaganda during the Cold War and it’s not like there’s cultural pressure to change their views like we’ve seen with racism, queer rights, etc. (Not trying to imply that mainstream culture isn’t racist, homophobic, etc. just that you’ll get shamed for being really obvious about it).
Oh for sure but it certainly seems that the general narrative from libs is that it's unrealistic and idealistic whereas on the right it's literally the most evil thing that's ever existed.
Yea I don’t hear libs saying it’s worse than the Holocaust, but I do see some enlightened centrists saying it’s just as bad (or worse...100 million deaths!)
As a 17 year old, I really need to say that yes, my generation is cool compared to others, but dear God don't just sit around and expect us all to radicalise. The majority of people who are politically involved that I know range from succdems to MLs and anarchists, buy most people are just basic libs or reactionaries. If you have a chance to reach out to anyone in my generation,. please do.
Leftism is growing internationally, especially within the youth.
