just a positive example to keep on posting and keep on radicalizing!

It took longer than that but yeah, there was a time when I knew I wasn't a communist, but realized I didn't know what communism was, so I started reading stuff. Then Obama pissed me off for the 2000th time the quantity of my frustration became a quality.

it took me 2 years to start declaring myself a socialist then after that 2 more years to actually be one

that time was me trying to understand what the fuck was happening in the world and marxists obviously gave me the most logically consistent explanation

now i walk around in a constant state of penile erection over the excitement of having met the immortal science of the proletariat

When I first stumbled drunkenly into the chapo sub in like winter 2018 a lot of the content offended my liberal sensibilities. One of the classic memes I saw was the your son vs my son meme with a 20 something year old kid pointing at a soldier's coffin and laughing. Ever since I came to terms with that meme I've been a leftist.

Leftism is growing internationally, especially within the youth.

Liberals everywhere are saying they feel a presence looming over them. It's like an apparition is appearing to them in their times of doubt.

      A spectre, if you will.

I had never truly understood that line until seeing what has manifested over the last few years. It feels like it is accelerating also. You see it everywhere, among people you knew were libs before who are now clearly sympathisers and comrades. Among people you've radicalised yourself in communities...

There is a looming spectre and they definitely feel it.

Well the revolutions of 1848 were very much on their way when the first edition was published in that February, so revolutionary fervour was sweeping around Europe at the time. It wasn't just people were starting to radicalize and wake up.

Political banquets were happening in France by middle class (bourgeois) activists, starting that previous summer, as a way to circumvent the governmental restriction on political meetings. Wikipedia says Friedrich Engels attended in October 1847.

I highly recommend the Revolutions podcast if you want to learn more about this

Another good thing is that the youth weren't as exposed to Cold War propaganda as some of the older generation, which makes it a lot easier to expose our ideas

That and the only people ranting about communism being evil are FOX news and unhinged chuds.

In my experience, the majority of boomers and gen x to a slightly lesser extent are still really anti-communist.

From MSNBC libs to apolitical “centrists” to MAGA chuds. (I don’t know any boomers to the left of MSNBC libs).

I’m sure it’s very difficult to deprogram yourself from all of the propaganda during the Cold War and it’s not like there’s cultural pressure to change their views like we’ve seen with racism, queer rights, etc. (Not trying to imply that mainstream culture isn’t racist, homophobic, etc. just that you’ll get shamed for being really obvious about it).

Oh for sure but it certainly seems that the general narrative from libs is that it's unrealistic and idealistic whereas on the right it's literally the most evil thing that's ever existed.

Yea I don’t hear libs saying it’s worse than the Holocaust, but I do see some enlightened centrists saying it’s just as bad (or worse...100 million deaths!)

As a 17 year old, I really need to say that yes, my generation is cool compared to others, but dear God don't just sit around and expect us all to radicalise. The majority of people who are politically involved that I know range from succdems to MLs and anarchists, buy most people are just basic libs or reactionaries. If you have a chance to reach out to anyone in my generation,. please do.

Be kind too! It’s fun to bully and dunk on overpaid pundits, political ghouls, and chuds but remember to try and be nice to people trying to have a good faithed discussion.

It doesn't always work correctly, but I try to keep my bad faith detector in good condition, and adjust the sarcasm or sincerity of my replies to its readings.

The popular conflation of Leftist and Liberal has carried so much political water for Liberals over the years, especially in America. Leftists push them to get off their ass and do one good thing, and they spend the following decades coasting on that good will.

All it took for me was a video from Philosophy Tube explaining to me what the antifa actually is and what their goals are. Ive been very left leaning from the beginning (lets not talk about my edgelord 4chan years.), but thought all leftists are violent for violents sake, so i curbed my views. Then, about hearing their actual morale and goals it sent me into an existential crysis and came out as a rad left from the other side. Thanks, Olly. :]

big brain: should we make sockpuppet accounts that are liberal to centrist, maybe even slight conservative, and then stage an abrupt moment of radicalization later on? It's good optics to see that stuff happen more.
