Like, is any of this shit real? It's so surreal the contrast between this shit and, like, CNN or The Pod Johns.

But a good run down on the Hunter Biden story, only 1% I had heard before listening to this, if true, I suppose.

What's people's opinions on the host? They seem trustworthy and on the up and up, but like I said, its so surreal.

Are there any VC/NVA sources that discuss their use of tunnels? I know they were famous for tunnels, but when I see they were deploying the old roof snake trick I think of the bogus illustrations of bin Laden's secret Tora Bora terrordrome.

idk, to do an episode on the kochs then jump on this hunter biden train a couple months later is pretty fucking bizarre given that they're carrying koch water in doing so

liz tweeting about 'twitter censorship' about that story but absolutely fuckall about blueleaks got me to stop listening to them entirely

your last sentence is probably right but that's an indictment on left media more than anything else.

lol that's some convoluted fucking logic you got there.

I could give a shit about the hunter biden stuff. It's undoubtedly real, but it's got strong 'gotcha hypocrite' vibes, like making a huge deal about trump banging a pornstar or whatever.

carrying koch water is joining with the rest of the koch-funded apparatus in decrying big tech censorship over this particular story instead of the real shit that's also been censored, but isn't fucking red meat for that crowd (i.e. BlueLeaks)

I thought that was pretty fucking clear in my comment, but if you need to strawman any fucking criticism into lib bullshit, suit yourself.

I'm not saying they're hypocrites, I'm saying they're either lazy or gullible or both. The point about BlueLeaks isn't 'you didn't do it then', it's that you can fucking critique tech censorship without adding your voice to a cryptofash mob.

While there has been no evidence as of yet, I've been suspecting a major anti-china astroturfing campaign on Reddit and other social media. I haven't had any idea who was doing it until this episode because Steve Bannon + exiled Chinese billionaire + neocons makes it pretty clear

I said the same thing around a month or two before the CTH went down, it seems very heavily concentrated on reddit but who knows for sure. Reddit and xenophobia and racism go hand in hand but one thing is for sure, the HK protests got more traction than any protest ever I've ever seen not just on reddit but on the internet. Even my dumb gamer discord friends who are very apolitical were constantly talking about it. Then one day, it seemed like most of the same spaces spamming about HK just magically stopped. At least not even a fraction of what it was for months.

Like of course there is anti China astroturfing on Reddit.

Spend 5 seconds on the sight and you'll see Chinese racist slurs, Reddit platinum given to any Zenz post and fuck China as the top post in many subs.

Well yeah but I mean an actual bot/shill campaign which has been very effective. Anti-China posts put up right before the east coast wakes up, top three comments always long anti-china screeds massively up voted because we only read like 1-3 threads, getting shut down if you point out this suspicious stuff. There's no documents though so it just remains a theory.

We agree that this is going on. Maybe the best point is that if it were a coordinated misinformation campaign by the US government, how would it look any different?

            ·

I certainly haven't ruled out US government involvement. It's just that I now know that a guy with a history of social media manipulation in favor of right wing causes, an exiled Chinese billionaire, and a council of neocons are coordinating against China and they seem like prime suspects for this sort of thing whereas the military or intelligence community sowing disinformation on Reddit on their own accord seemed slightly (and I mean very slightly) less plausible. Not to mention that it's all a rotating door and these people are always moving in and out of government whenever it's convenient.

Will2live had a good point about their 9/11 truther episode. It was based in a lot of conjecture and (cra-see) interpretations of video evidence and tinfoil hat conspiracy treated as more truthy then it should be.

But I still feel that almost all of their historical stuff is researched and based in documentation and their interpretations of class theory.

      it’s all verifiable

certainly verifiable, but verifiably false a good chunk of the time

In their gates foundation episode they talk about a malaria vaccine trial in India that resulted in high rates of irreversible negative outcomes, charaterizing the vaccine as experimental and the trial as not even an efficacy/safety expirment but a public health expirement to test willingness to vaccinate.

Problem is that it's conflating two separate trials, a gardasil trial that was to gauge willingness to vaccinate (gardasil being one of the best tested vaccines humanity has) and an actual FDA stage 3 trial of an experimental malaria drug. A half-hour of internet research and reading the actual fucking abstracts of these published papers was enough to discover the truth.

doesn't make the gates foundation any less neocolonial eugenic bullshit, but if you parrot the trueanon bullshit your argument loses legitimacy

      • OgdenTO [he/him]
        ·

Thanks. I haven't fact checked everything on true anon, of course, but what I have has a pretty good track record - saying that, it's pretty clear when they're talking about something they know a lot about and when they're just reading notes that they've made.

I certainly trust them a lot more on the former types of episodes than on the latter, which the Gates foundation episodes were for sure.

I do like to hear when they're wrong about things, though.

It's real. The Biden family's corruption is well documented, but it's the kind of corruption that every fail son or daughter engages in. That's why you don't hear about it, because it would implicate the system. Can't have that.

Honestly Matt as usual has made an excellent point about conspiracy theories like 9/11 Truth in his recent vlogs.

Ultimately it doesn't matter whether 9/11 was an inside job or not because conspiracy theory, as an inherently reactionary way of looking at events and politics, eventually runs up against a wall: "So you're one of the elect who has connected the dots and discovered The Awful Truth. Now what?"

What actual difference does it make, in any material sense, if it came out tomorrow that Bush literally did 9/11? Nothing. What are you going to do about that is the only question that matters, and conspiracy theory doesn't answer it. And if you need to some Awful Truth to motivate you to taking meaningful political action that will fundamentally shift society, then you're not going to do anything about that after learning that Awful Truth anyways. The retreat into conspiracy theory is the effect of learned helplessness and an inability to meaningfully affect society around you. The only way to change this attitude is to engage in Marxist analysis and communist organizing, and if you're at that point you're not going to be worrying about conspiracy theory anyways.

None of them are bad, but I've found most that I have listened to incredibly boring since it's seems like a load of trivia used as riff fodder and I don't find any of them uniquely funny. I did really like their Seinfeld episode since they all seem to have a chip on their shoulder for him and seemed genuinely interested in the topic.
