It just completely blows my mind how that one event and ~3,000 deaths totally made people go nuts, but over 230k deaths from COVID and no one cares.

DC comrades came through so hard that they earned not one but two Trump tweets whining about their performance tonight. like this is weird to say about an event at which the left was so badly outnumbered but I think they held the fash from a victory. look at Twitter - the fash aren't claiming a win. they're whining about getting beat and having their shit stolen - by a bloc that was dwarfed at every point during the day. yes, 3 people got stabbed but it looks like no one died and given the mismatch in numbers, weaponry, etc., that wasn't a sure thing.

the fash showed up looking for a bar brawl with weapons and they got a very carefully executed extended battle across a huge swath of the city. these were overwhelming odds and by all accounts, no one flinched. comrades displayed grim courage, steely discipline, and checked their egos at the door. these are never words I thought I'd speak about a bloc.

    tonight, they moved like water.

I remember when COVID felt like it was only going to be China’s problem and everyone was panicking over nothing, but there were a few articles that said we should take drastic measures or else it would fuck up the economy and everyone would be wearing masks for a long time (probably forever), but that idea was too dark to think about. I suspect climate change is going to be the same. There are a few voices that actually have the truth, but nothing will be done about it, and once shit really pops off, things are going to just get increasingly worse until everyone just accepts the hell that’s been created.

TIL about Ana Montes, who joined the US Defense Intelligence Agency and soon became its most senior Cuban analyst, all the while sharing information with Cuba.

She’ll be out in about two years

it was Ana Montes who told Cuban intelligence officers about a clandestine US Army camp in El Salvador. Carmichael alleged that Montes knew about the existence of the Special Forces camp because she visited it only a few weeks before the camp was attacked in 1987 by Cuban-supported guerrillas of the Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front (FMLN).

"she felt the Cubans were treated unfairly by the U.S. government."

Prosecutors stated that Montes had been privy to classified information about the US military's impending invasion of Afghanistan in October 2001, and that they did not want her revealing this information to potential enemies.[4]

      That’s sus

I got bored and researched some of the KGB/CIA convicted spies on either side. Disappointingly it seemed like most of them did it for the money, rather than ideological reasons. Doesn't look like it's the case for her though, which is nice :)

Apparently comrade Montes has probably been exposed to coronavirus at her facility

Also looks like one of her fellow prisoners is set to be executed after a really fucked up life. I'd consider it a sad miscairrage of "justice", but what's new?

The rational part of me thinks that Americans will just roll over and accept the fact that life will generally stay the same, except it's getting worse, while the curious part of me wonders whether or not a tipping point will come after a certain amount of deaths or when hospitals are truly past capacity

The rich who run this show must have made the calculation that they would be able to continue to shove people into the COVID pulverizer no matter how bad it gets, but I'm anxious to see if there comes a point in a month or two when all of the retail/delivery/essential workers get fed up of and quit or no-show en masse, grinding our rickety-ass system to a halt

The anti-police protests in the summer gave me so much hope. Maybe it's different now that it's winter, but I hope people are inspired by the mass action that people took to the streets this year

Witnessed two dudes fighting over a phone charger today. Like blows were struck. Then they hugged it out, called each other homos, assured each other that they would fuck each other's mom, and took the bus together.

I love where I live, I regret nothing about moving here. Every day is an adventure.

Today two people people told me that me rambling about communism and leftist theory pushed them more to the left over the last few months. Is this praxis?

Its weird that I'm 100% confident in my beliefs being right and good and objectly the correct would view ( People are people. Science is real. Life > Line.) but it means like 90% of the US public is completely wrong, delusional, brainwashed, or just horrible people. CHUDs feel the same way, tho. its weird.

edit (only true leftist vibes, but you get what i'm saying)
