Dems should’ve tried harder to win the senate by just supporting weed legalization

Wapo can try all it wants but capital fucked up and everyone is perfectly aware the stimulus check and unemployment are the only meaningful part of these bills. You cut those out and people will gladly kill the entire bill to spite the rich.

It’s honestly kind of funny how dumb they think people are. Even then, most people are aware that the stimulus is just money laundering for banks so tenants can pay their landlords and landlords can pay their mortgages

This is true. In Canada we have CERB, and other business concessions, but banks continue charging mortgages and our small businesses, especially local restaurants, are devastated. But. The banks are entitled to their money, so businesses are fucked over.

Dems take Georgia, but Bernie becomes the new Mitch McConnell by being the only swing vote in the Senate? Highly unlikely but it would be hilarious.

I mean its not crazy, thats what Joe Leiberman did in 2008 expect it was to push Obama's agenda right. Although if Bernie tries it, the Dems will be very happy to just throw up their hands and get nothing done.

If Dems win in Georgia. Bernie and Joe Manchin become the 2 most powerful senators.

The squad also have enough seats to swing a vote if it doesn’t have any Republican support in the house.

It's the "what the fuck does he have to lose?" argument I've seen here and basically everywhere forever. He's almost 80. He's never going to lose in Vermont. It's almost as if telling the Democratic Party to go fuck itself should have been his strategy all along.

I have no idea if it's true or if it's what motivates him, but I trust the argument that the reason he's being conciliatory is to pave the way for future Berniecrats (like AOC). Even if Democrats stab him in the back and their lesser minions spit in his face, because he plays ball, he gets a modicum of respect and recognition, which will carry over to other leaders who espouse the same brand of politics.

My hunch is that he might accomplish more by burning bridges, by going directly to the people, by actively breaking the Democratic party apart, taking as many progressives along as possible. Because they've already launched almost everything they could at him. If they fired their last shots, it might backfire with the people seeing through it.

But then again they ratfucked and smeared Corbyn to the point that your average lib thinks he's beyond the pale, so maybe Bernie is doing the best he can under the circumstances.

It'd be great if Bernie learned he could leverage his base for policy concessions. Imagine if he actually said, and I hypothetically quote, "I'm going to tell all of these people I have influence over why to reject your party and form a left foil unless you accept these broadly popular policies". His good friend Joe the Rapist would be speechless at such a bold new idea.

I feel like he'd likely end up committing suicide by 2 shots to the back of the head if he actually did something like this

Yeah, you can't be a pussy about this or you'll just end up doing an Obama. If you choose to fight powerful evil, your life will be at risk as soon as you start succeeding.

He's a senator. He has a lot of power. Not the same as at certain points during his presidential campaigns, but he's certainly not powerless.

why the fuck isn't he fighting for $2,000 month for the next year? $1,200 is what we got last time and it was a complete rip off excuse to give more money to the 1%

A bipartisan package that doesn't do a single fucking thing to help most Americans. But fuck Bernie for putting perfect above good. American media, and I can't stress this enough, can go fuck itself.
