You know some of these people going "how could they give it a 9 or a 10?" are the same people that attacked and harassed anyone that gave it a score lower than a 9 before it came out lol
Just a thought, maybe some reviewers aren't fans of getting death threats for giving unreleased games a "horrible" 7/10 score, so they just spike the score slightly in order to avoid that.
There are bad reviewers, of course, but honestly, I can't say for sure I would be an impartial reviewer if I knew I could get doxxed and harrased for giving something a 7/10 -- I'd just give it an 8 and be done with it.

The journalist could've died or gotten injured from a seizure from one of those videos due to their epilepsy being as severe as it is.

they tried to kill her dude thats.... like attempting murder

And you are an asshole.

Threatening innocent people is unequivocally bad even if there's is no intent to follow through
deleted by creator
Threats were made, I agree with you it's unlikely anyone would follow through on them, but that's irrelevant
Honestly your argument sounds a lot like the reactionary 'slurs are just words, they can't hurt you, buck up' bullshit
Except g*mers did follow though in a way, they sent videos meant to trigger epileptic seizures disguised as support messages to a journalist who complained about a scene in cyberpunk 2077 that caused them to have a seizure. Yes it's online and not "real world", but it still could have seriously injured the journalist

:le-pol-face:
Have you ever been on the receiving end of an online hate mob? Have you ever woken up to see a hundred new DMs of people saying they're going to rape you, telling you to kill yourself, etc? Have you ever had people post your personal information online, including your number? Have you had nasty voice mails left of your phone? Nasty messages sent to friends or relatives? Have you had people email your employer trying to get you fired? Have you had aspects of your personal life collected on drama/harassment forums where people's sole goal is to try to ruin your life?
Yes, people likely aren't going to actually come to your house and murder you but that shit is extremely taxing and stressful. Honestly, until you've experienced that type of behaviour you should shut the fuck up about it.
Even tiny hate mobs, if dedicated, can really fuck you up mentally/ emotionally.

Let me quote the post you replied to:
Wow, so you experienced all of this at a public school? No?
Then refer to the last part of my post chud:
Just because you block someone on twitter doesn't mean those people can't make a new account, or you don't end up seeing those messages nor does it stop people from finding your personal information on one of the many shitty harassment sites that exist on the internet.

You have no fucking shame, huh?

This isn't a fucking dichotomy where one of either online harassment and "in real life" harassment can be bad. It doesn't fucking matter if they're "the same," that's not he bar for whether online harassment is a bad fucking thing or not.
But yeah, continue with the victim blaming shit my dude.

Because you're a lying sack of shit. I don't give a fuck about civility shitlib.
Yeah dude talking about how bad online hate mobs can be is the same thing as "cancelling" people, get a fucking clue.

lmao more chud reactionary garbage

Sure dude, but you can't really tell people how to react to death threats and dox attacks, might not bother you (even tho you probably never had thousands of people threaten and harras you, so you can't be 100% sure), but they might bother other people.
I personally am unbothered by online bullying and stuff like that, I can tune it all out, I really don't care what someone calls me online. But we've all seen people kill themselves, harm themselves, or just in general be affected horribly by cyberbullying and shit like that, so it's really dumb to just dismiss it like "oh it's just neckbeards, who cares."
I think the volume of attacks makes a big impact too. It's easier to brush away one asshole saying something nasty to you, but if you're getting 50 messages an hour threatening you or trying to goad you into self harm, it can get extremely fucking taxing. And if you happen to be in a comment section where those people are ganging up on you it can feel really overwhelming.
Plus, these things aren't always just empty threats. Even if they're not literally going to murder you, they can still try to ruin your life by contacting friends/employers, trying to find something incriminating from your past, etc. It's hard to imagine that that kind of shit wouldn't be stressful.
And yes, if you're an "enemy" of g*mers or have been labelled an "SJW" you can absolutely get this level of harassment. There are whole fucking sites dedicated to this kind of shit. I won't name them, but they're out there.
