you're not supposed to use the water from the taps, you stop up the sink and swish your hands in the stagnant water like the little worm you are.
On the upside of that, most people my age know how to wire a plug
Also the British plugs are great. American plugs always make me feel like I'm about to fry myself when I plug them in. It goes live with exposed prongs lol. The modern ones are marginally safer, but anything from the 70's earlier is a deathtrap
One time I bought a battery charger that came with wall plug adapters for all major countries. Somehow the British one fell on the floor and I stepped on it. Am I a UK citizen now?
I love how the British ended up designing an incredibly safe wall adapter, but the trade off is that it impales your feet
Mixer taps are bourgeois decadence
Alternating between scalding and freezing your hands is how a true proletarian washes
I know this is a bit, but mixer taps are way more efficient right? Both for water usage and materials. Less metal/plastic in the tap itself and it's only one tap worth of water.
Dunno about the water usage, as you generally don't actually put both on full blast then alternate between them, but i am 99% sure mixers are more efficient in materials
This begs the question of why you grabbed the extremely hot lump of metal in the first place
Do you not enjoy having skin?
We need one for every °C difference between cold and hot. Freedom of choice
Iirc the only reason Br*tish houses use these is because their hot water heaters used to be open on the top so rats would fall in them and drown and you don't want to accidentally drink gross rat water. Apparently it's easier to have two stupid taps rather than a fucking lid on your water heater.
I think it's more to do with the type of pipe used for hot water lines, which was a different material from cold kind. The metal would look leech into water making it unsafe to drink
It usually goes something like:
Somebody orders sinks for construction.
Somebody else orders taps of some random design they like.
Somebody else has to install them and no refunds.
These people do not really coordinate, and thus nice sinks with nice taps, that were never meant to go together.Subreddit about this type of thing: /r/NotMyJob
they still make these? I thought they were phased out like 40 years ago?
My university accomodation only has these, so, yeah, they're still out there.
my university building has 1 ply toilet paper that I can see my fingers through so I'm pretty sure they just want us to suffer as much as possible
University accommodation buildings are usually shit anyway
Are you saying that in any other circumstance they SHOULD be allowed to exist? How disappointing of you.
What's wrong with it? You got lukewarm/eventually hot water from one tap and cold from the other.
