He truly believes in the neoliberal ideology and has dedicated his entire life serving that.

      :100-com:

That’s why he’s far more dangerous than Trump. He cannot be reasoned with or persuaded.

Trump is dangerous in a different way, and can be talked down or sabotaged in different ways, but on the whole it's a mistake to say Biden is more dangerous. There's a bad tendency here to take "Biden is awful" and contort it into "which means Trump is actually better." At worst, both are about the same level of awful in their own ways. At best, there's a real difference between how willingly liberals use violence and how willingly conservatives use violence, and while they're both awful, Trump is worse.

It's like hanging out with the bullies when you're a weird scrawny kid but it's not because you want to avoid getting bullied; you aspire to be a bully but can't even make that cut on your own.

Biden made $15 million between 2017 and 2018. His net worth prior to that was still in the millions. It's not clear to me how some sources say he's only worth $9 million - did he spend that $6 million in earnings (15 - 9) in two years and lose all his prior net worth? It seems unlikely. The reality is it's in Joe's interest to hide his true net worth, and there are likely a LOT of sources of income and wealth that aren't publicly visible - especially through his family. His son's business dealings with Russia's gas industry included kickbacks for Joe as well (as documented in leaked emails). I think it's likely these kickbacks happen often with a lot of people, and it's likely the wealth doesn't flow directly to Joe in a way that's reportable on his IRS tax returns.

I think it's more likely Joe is worth $50 million or more, most of which is controlled by people close to him or in his family. I consider this rich enough to care about the plight of the wealthy. Find me anyone worth more than $10 million and less than a billion that doesn't complain about being taxed too much.

One small example is the now defunct Biden Foundation that took in $5 million from healthcare and pharma industry from 2017 to 2018. It paid out $0 in grants to actually fight its cause (cancer) but about $3 million in payroll and close to a million in conferences.

For power. He's a corporate stooge and he knows he always has been, but that still gets your hand on the levers of power.

I think Matt said it best that Biden is just a ghoul who is in it for the love of the game. (Paraphrasing) he basically just wants to be liked by his peers on both sides and constantly throws bones to people with power and money because he needs that dopamine spike when they say one nice thing about him

I don't know if you want a real answer but here it is: Joe Biden is a massive fuck up, but he thinks the 'process' justifies the fuck ups. Everything he touches turns to shit. Anita Hill hearings. Chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. His previous presidential runs. The fiscal cliff negotiations. Crime Bill. He is the embodiment of someone failing up.

He knows he's a massive fuck up, so does everyone else in Washington. So he doesn't do anything too untoward, just standard level corruption, because he and everyone else knows Joe will fuck it up. But to my earlier point, he doesn't care about results. So long as the 'process' includes Corporate Dems and Republicans he could care less about the results.

Actually, Obama actually said, "Don't underestimate Joe's ability to fuck things up." https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/world/barack-obama-reportedly-said-dont-underestimate-joes-ability-to-f-things-up/ar-BB180BCK

And he would have if the media held him to account on anything. He lied so, so much and didn't get any pushback.

He's a hardcore nationalist, just like the majority of centrist democrats who have gone as high in politics as him (as once you're that high up it isn't so much a career decision anymore to continue as you'd be setup for life regardless). To people like that, the wealthy provide them a much more friendly cover to carry out imperialism than say direct national intervention and mercantilism through the tools provided by the neoliberal order.
