He put up a slideshow of images of federal forces sleeping in the Capitol and other government buildings, as well as heightened security measures like metal detectors, and said "looking at these images, it becomes clear that there is a specter haunting our politics".

He wasn't talking about socialism or anything, he went on to talk about "division" and other liberal pablum. But it is interesting that he decided to work in the phrase "specter haunting", isn't it?

    He's probably referencing former Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Specter (R, then D), whose ghost stalks the halls of the Capitol building as eternal punishment for his role in the composition of the Warren Report.
