He put up a slideshow of images of federal forces sleeping in the Capitol and other government buildings, as well as heightened security measures like metal detectors, and said "looking at these images, it becomes clear that there is a specter haunting our politics".

He wasn't talking about socialism or anything, he went on to talk about "division" and other liberal pablum. But it is interesting that he decided to work in the phrase "specter haunting", isn't it?

He's probably referencing former Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Specter (R, then D), whose ghost stalks the halls of the Capitol building as eternal punishment for his role in the composition of the Warren Report.

When he describes his life it sounds like absolute shit though. Kids don’t like him. Is constantly forced to interact with people on the bird app. And knows in his soul he’s a hack having to kiss Comcast’s ass. I hope it’s even more miserable than it sounds.

guess it's part of his job to tweet to help market the show or something?

would love a link to where he complains about his kids not liking him

He mentions his kids a lot. And most of the time it’s just them bitching about him in one way or the other. He’s on his phone to much. He’s not there when they needed him. Stuff like that.

To imagine that Chris Hayes's writers are not aware of the first line of perhaps one of the most famous and widely-read works of political writing of all time is kinda cringe.

      this

plus it's not like Hayes hasn't read it either, he's a liberal but not exactly a neoliberal like Maddow or Mathews
