Bernie is being misogynist again by proposing policies that are more popular than those of progressive queens Kamala and Pelosi! :bernie-pout:

It really is amazing that a self-professed socialist who lost two presidential primaries in a row is perhaps the most popular and respected politician in America. Say what you will, he is a very skilled politician and also very down to earth. I still wonder what his secret is.

Proposing policies that will improve everyone's life without coming across as radical.

That, and he has been consistent for basically his entire political career. At least, he’s not flip flopping like Dems usually do with issues. There’s some good YouTube videos of him in Congress from the 90s going against the popular opinion.

I think it's fair to say that he fell through the cracks. The system does everything it can to either absorb or exclude those who enter it, but somehow he managed to dodge all that and remain basically the same guy he was when he started out.

I think the fact that he fought so hard for Vermont unions is a huge factor. They still have pretty strong unions up there compared to a lot of places and the goodwill he built with them hasn't faded.

You're absolutely right lol at the people getting triggered by this comment almost as if nobody cares to remember the actual events of the two primaries and the classic all time hits like "my friend Joe Biden" or endorsing Hillary, or being a neoliberal imperialist on debate stage(saying shit about Cuba and China) or best of all conceding and supporting rapist Joe Biden instead of actually fighting him from the left.

So many people here seemingly still haven't grown up past Bernie, give it time.

Democrats continue to have the worst political instincts imaginable.

How long before someone on Twitter blames his popularity in misogyny or racism?

Their political instincts are dogshit if you presuppose that democrats are in the game to help the common people. On the other hand if you assume they are a controlled opposition, a lightning rod to divert popular engagement in politics into impotent civility and culture war bullshit, then all they do makes perfect sense.

The US is in the middle of a pandemic that has killed half a million Americans. The oligarchs has made obscene amounts of money while millions of families can no longer pay their rent and "essential workers" are being sacrificiced on the altar of The Economy. — And people are not rioting in the streets. People are not out there demanding healthcare or a social safety net or economic justice. I would say the democrats and the bourgeoisie they serve are winning bigly.

It would be surprising if there was no reactions at all but overall the prospects of substantial material improvements are grim.

The democratic party is a black hole that sucks up political energy.

Yeah, but they're failing. Strikes are happening. Workers are forming unions. This is the rebirth of American labor, and when it starts growing teeth, it won't even know what the Democrats are.

I hope you're right. Lots of stuff is happening that hasn't happened in a long time.

My point is more about the role of the democratic party. They are not the ones pushing for greater labour power and the energy many working class people puts into it is mostly wasted.

Exactly. This new generation of activists are being birthed in the new labor struggle. Forming new unions and taking wildcat action to spite the AFL-CIO. The democrats haven't done anything for them yet. If they continue to not do anything, that labor power will be forced to more radical action.

If the Dems really wanted to act as a relief valve, they'd do $25/hr minimum wage and M4A today. They won't though. They're already pushing this crippled beast to it's limits. They can't maintain their infinite growth rates without taking more from us.

Last summer was one of the largest uprisings in the US, if not the greatest. The difficulty in why it hasn't turned into real social change is because there is no leadership or organization to harness the public outrage with enough legitimacy to be deliverers of new concessions and change. We're stuck.

This is what I believe they are as well. That's a big reason why I'm not expecting any relief from Biden whatsoever outside of symbolic fuck off gestures like candle lighting.

Tlaib and Omar were not tested in the poll.

The full list of people tested in the poll are -from most to least favorable:

Bernie, Biden, Harris, AOC, Limbaugh, Schumer, Liz Cheney, Manchin, Pelosi, Hawley, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Cuomo, Cruz, McConnell.

The top 4 were the only 4 with more positive than negative favorability. McConnell had a net favorability (% favorable minus % unfavorable) of -48%, while the next lowest was -23%.
