I'm actually kind of expecting him to join the Online Red-Brown folks. I'm sure they're cheering this heel turn.
He’s already there. He just did an interview with Niccolo Soldo.
Edit: the intro to the interview, quoted below, should give you all an idea how far Mr. Greenwald has fallen. I encourage everyone to read it.
It’s rather important to understand why highly accomplished individuals like Glenn Greenwald succeed at what they do. There is no person alive today who is more self-loathing than Glenn, who has internalized homophobia to the extent that he has, who is simultaneously both an extreme misogynist and TERF, and who tops it off with being a self-hating Jew. How does he do it? This interview seeks to find out how. I agreed to conduct this interview with Glenn for two reasons. The first reason being that he needs some positive PR to increase his appeal among his natural constituency: Nazis, Fascists, and Anti-Semites and homophobes. The second reason being that he indicated his willingness to use his powerful legal mind to make a strong case in front of Rania Khalek as to why she should let me impregnate her. I asked him to do the same with Tulsi Gabbard but he informed me that "Michael Tracey has already called dibs on her. I can't do much to help you out until she gets around to finally filing the inevitable restraining order against him”. Glenn thinks he’s funny.
I even said that before I found the full clip from Daily Caller, where he tells on himself by calling socialism closed borders and taking care of "our" workers. I hate being right about this.
International Workers of the World Unite! But from afar please! Good fences make good neighbors, so you stay in your country and I'll stay in mine. We good?

:what: :huey-wut: :wut:
He's a long time fixture of the "frog twitter" scene of fascist intellectuals. He seems to be atively pursing a red/brown alliance, by courting "left" personalities like the Red Scare girls, Aimee Teresee, and now Glenn Greenwald.
He's actually a talented writer and has fairly astute political analysis. I was following him on Twitter for quite a while without realizing that he was fash, because he more or less keeps a lid on his less savory beliefs, to the extent that he mostly expresses them under the guise of "irony."
The quote above includes a good example: it sounds like a joke, but his audience really is composed of Nazis, anti-semites, and homophobes.
Thx for filling me in. Just wondering, where you would put 1) Saagar Enjeti and 2) Krystal Ball in promoting a red-brown alliance if you have an opinion on them ?
I'm less familiar with them, but from what I understand they represent more of a red/blue alliance, meaning Republican and Democrat. They have different ideas but ultimately both want to preserve and operate inside the neoliberal world order, albeit with different ideas about how that order should be managed.
The hypothetical Red/Brown alliance that gets discussed on this site between fascists and communists is a different beast from that, because the ultimate goal of that alliance is the destruction of the current world order. Of course, because the communists and the fascists have such radically different ideas about what needs to be built to replace that order, any temporary alliance would ultimately end in the two sides trying to tear themselves apart.
can't believe I defended him so many times. please mock me for my liberalism
I just thought he was like, not dumb. He appears intelligent and able to hold multiple conflicting thoughts in his head at any one time, but somehow TC is a socialist because he doesn't like Amazon. This quote really got me:
“I think the vision is, you know, you have this kind of right wing populism, which really is socialism, that says we should close our borders, not allow unconstrained immigration, and then take better care of our own working class people, and not allow this kind of transnational, global, corporatist elite to take everything for themselves under the guise of neoliberalism,” Greenwald said.
:virgil-sad:
Why are you doing virgilposting when Bad Faith has platformed GG multiple times now.
I just wanted a sad face and that was the first one to show up. Have they had him on since this happened?
You know how the right used to* say socialism is bad because Nazi Germany was socialist? We now have direct examples in our present day that clearly demonstrate how the same word can be erroneously used to describe both Tucker Carlson and Ilhan Omar.
Buy what that also means is that we are one step closer to our deserved Marjorie Taylor-Green girl boss presidency. Feels bad man.
*"Enlightened" conservatism probably still does.
Felix will make an amazing First Dude when she wins in a landslide in 2024.
Not only is Tucker not a socialist, he’s not even a Nazbol/strasserite. I’ve never heard him advocate for a single left leaning policy. I think he approved of the Bernie/AOC’s proposed credit card interest rate cap?
I'm amazed they haven't just shut down. True testament to human ingenuity.
Tucker Carlson is smarter politically than Glenn Greenwald. When Greenwald first went on Carlson's show people were defending it saying that Greenwald was getting the message out to people who would have never heard it otherwise, but the opposite was true. Carlson was using Greenwald to expand his base. He wants to bring in more fringe independent-minded people by posing as an anti-establishment figure, and he uses Greenwald to give legitimacy to that image.
Everything I see about Tucker makes me think he is one of the smartest people in politics. I would even say it's likely that he becomes President (but it might be a decade or two)
He’s the most dangerous, despicable person on Fox News. He is well aware of the conservative victim complex and wants to get in his viewers heads’ that whenever someone condemns White supremacists, they’re condemning them. He does it very well
What’s the basis behind this line of thinking? I’ve never watched his show and always gathered my opinion of him from sound bites and the only conclusion I’ve been able to reach is that he’s just another bad faith imbecile.
I mean, he's always been a mixed bag. But the whole "Exposing horrors of US Imperialism" shit was genuinely good and often what he took flak for.
Of late, he's been doing the FOX News junket ostensibly to keep getting exposure for his real-ass fucking journalism. But because they're his only ride into town, and a lot of Tucker fans have been cross pollinating into his feed, and because Social Media is a rat race where you pander to the most terminally online people imaginable to get ahead...
Basically, Tucker stuck his dick in crazy one too many times. And now he's got the rot.
Does liberal mean “someone I don’t like” on this site? Libs are annoying dumbfucks but ask the average lib and they’ll tell you they hate Tucker Carlson. Greenwald is part of the weird Jimmy Dore contingent on the left.
You are talking about "liberal" in a colloquial sense where it basically just means "Democrat." Even Tucker Carlson is a liberal in the sense that people on this site generally mean, which is the historical movement that supplanted feudalism and is interested in protecting itself from being supplanted by communism and is the hegemonic belief throughout America.
Alright, between this and the trans thing and him admitting that he's witheld info on the US spying on its official enemies, I've officially moved from ambivalence to hostility with this guy.
Fuck Glenn Greenwald.
him admitting that he’s witheld info on the US spying on its official enemies
Can you elaborate more on this?
You're all so close to understanding social fascism and it's really painful to see. I doubt Greenwald has any understanding of it, but he does understand that Carlson, AOC, himself, Trump, etc. all seek to preserve the dictatorship of the bourgeoisie and that the neoliberal order is not a viable means of doing so. The methods which they seek to employ to retain bourgeois control vary, but they all fall into the category of reformers who seek to prevent the inevitable collapse of their nation states due to the heightening contradiction of capitalism rather than allow for that collapse to spur internationalist, anti-imperialist, proletarian revolution.
The reason people like AOC and Greenwald (used) to be likeable is because they co-opted ideas and language from the communist movement, but not the platform. Greenwald probably believes the endless wars are unhealthy for bourgeois American society in the same way binge drinking in your twenties is unhealthy, but the occasional drink is fine. This is the same reason he is transphobic, because he recognizes the rapid breakdown of cisnormity is bad for capitalist society (whether or not he consciously realizes this, and the fact that the long term breakdown of cisnormity can be co-opted by capitalism is irrelevant). He sees the possibility of what many call the "red-brown alliance" and his broadly defined socialism because he recognizes the browns want to preserve American hegemony and some of the "reds" would be okay with it as long as they got healthcare or whatever. This tendency is reactionary and extremely dangerous to the communist position and must be combated. Anyone who would call themselves socialist but not communist and anti-imperialist should be immediately suspect.
Lol find me one time Greenwald ever co-opted language from the communist movement. Outside of the stroke of luck Snowden reached out to Greenwald and his reporting in Brazil - dudes politics have always been right-leaning libertarian trash.
Edit: Also yeah, weird conflation of a first term social democrat house member who actively supports unions and a weirdo online guy who carries water for fascists on Fox News. People who think AOC "Isn't likable" (likability is a very lib trait to care about in an elected official) are too-online goobers who got caught up in that clear FTV op.
Lol find me one time Greenwald ever co-opted language from the communist movement. Outside of the stroke of luck Snowden reached out to Greenwald and his reporting in Brazil - dudes politics have always been right-leaning libertarian trash.
Maybe "communist movement" is a little too generous, but my point is that he attacks the most blatant overreaches of American imperialism abroad and at home because to some degree he recognizes they are a threat to the empire and he cloaks that in anti-imperialist and free speech language, both traditionally the positions of communists in the US. Here he attacks US-Saudi relationship, Here he says a 'new domestic war on terror is coming', No Matter the Liberal Metric Chosen, the Bush/Cheney Administration Was Far Worse Than Trump. Obviously his politics are libertarian garbage, but American libertarianism emerged as an attempt to reconcile the settler colonial state with an anti-war bend co-opted from the actual anti-imperialists of the 60s and 70s and Greenwald is no different in that respect.
The reason I bring up AOC (it's her second term btw) is because Greenwald specifically mentions her in his list of "socialists" and he is not wrong. My whole point is that "socialism" in the imperial core is a reactionary tendency from the Leninist perspective and AOC has been happy to walk the imperialist line just as Greenwald would be if it didn't involve what he considers gross overreaches of the empire. They both are fundamentally opposed to a dictatorship of the proletariat and recognize reforms will be needed to prevent that from emerging. That is what Greenwald means by "socialism" whether he would put it in those terms or not.
Interesting, i know that Greenwald ignored Snowden for months until other journalists started getting the scoop, but I'm not aware of what his politics were before that.
sure I just doubt that AOC would call Carlson a socialist but goooo communism
I'm starting to get tired of his shit takes. He's been on a fucking roll.
The dude left the The Intercept due to the dictatorial and oppressive overreach of squints normal editorial processes that led to not publishing a Rudy Giuliani story with the primary source being: "Dude, just trust me." This was conveniently and definitely very randomly timed with the promotion of his substack. Ever since Substack he's turned the shit take meter to fucking 11
And I got crap from people for a pretty gentle call out of this guy. As I said before, I have no idea why people go out of their way to carry water for this guy. He did some good work in the past but there is no reason to keep making excuses for him.
There is literally no reason to go on Tucker Carlson and all it does is normalize the dudes clear fascist ideology. There are no "minds to be swayed" on Fox News with its average viewership of 68 fuckin years old. Saying "well Bernie did a town hall and looked how that worked out" isn't the same as going on Tucker Carlsons white supremacy hour to talk about cancel culture. Even if you slip in a few "Free Assanges" here and there. The brain melted geriatric racists of Fox News audience are going to see Greenwald, find out hes gay, then move on with their lives hating brown people. Fuuuuuuuck Greenwald hes jumped the shark.
we did it joe we got leftists to listen to concerns marginalized people brought up 5 years agooooo
I hadn't heard much about him outside the brazilian corruption stuff until recently, but going on the """crypto"""fash tv hour to nod along with everything? No excuse, killed that respect real fast
Cue that Tucker Carlson clip where he explains class is the real divide in America and the rich obscure that so it doesn't hurt their profits lol
spoiler
Except he only said that to explain why white supremacism isn't real
It was scary to me the way he could say that explicitly and straight faced, with full confidence that his viewers will be hearing a totally different message than any of us will hear.
Is that the clip of him talking about how ruling elites are destroying America right before it cuts to an interview where he says “At least I’m an out of the closet elite/I’m absolutely not a man of the people”
I guess props to owning up to being a big phony?
Greenwald is much, much better than the rest because the other two are just idiot gamers who produce nothing of value. Glenn Greenwald has shit takes all the time but has also produced extremely important journalistic work.
Didn’t Greenwald used to be pretty reactionary anyways? Seems like he’s going through the revolving door again. I apologize to any trans friends out there who have to deal with this shithead being considered part of the left, he’s opening the door for reactionary ideas in our project at this point
The strange one is sucking off tucker Carlson though. I mean..... why?
Tucker says “the ruling class” and “big corporation bad” and the dumber more class reductionist contingents on the left eat it up.
Glenn Greenwald and his platform can be useful to the left.
Glenn Greenwald is not a leftist, and he is not our friend.
Glenn Greenwald: "Hitler was a socialist, after all he was the leader of the National SOCIALIST party so he must have been progressive!"
Exactly this, the right co-opting a word. I'd have given Glenn the benefit of the doubt in that he simply meant the word "populist", but there's no defense for completely being tone-deaf in understanding contemporary political terms like socialism.
Maybe a nazbol, but that would be stretching it very far
The Intercept has been a massive mistake. It's still funny to me that these guys who are clearly competent journalists and can seemingly understand the ills facing the world, can come up with such garbage conclusions and takes. But I guess that's what happens when you don't have the foundational lens through which you should be seeing all these things.
Didn't he quit the Intercept because they're just libs who didn't want any real criticism of Biden? They still have journalists over there even now that drop jaw droppingly bad takes
That's what he said, but he also says that Trump is a socialist, so maybe take his version of events with a grain of salt.
It was because they wouldn't let him print a Hunter Biden leaks story, a topic that literally nobody gives a shit about,
The Intercept has been incredibly critical of Biden. The "real criticism" of Biden that the Intercept editorial board stopped Glenn from publishing was a pseudo-story / defense of the Hunter Biden laptop story, which again, unless you're (1) a baby or (2) a grifter - was never a real story. To the point of even the NY Post editors wanted nothing to do with it. So I don't blame the Intercept for not wanting to publish a story that barely stands up to the editorial standards of a fuckin rag like the NY Post.
Isn't GG married to a PSOL politician? Wtf is going on with him?
the CIA usually runs these socialist parties as controlled opposition
This is the most insane part about all this. Wtf are you doing Glenn
