Its a systematic issue, we can’t force other animals to photosynthesise like us can we? and personal responsibility is lib! I had a textbook once that had a section about a sci-fi future where some people were green and photosynthesized. It would definitely be super cool. You'd still need to eat and drink water (just like plants still need nutrition and water from the soil), mostly for nitrogen (plants depend on nitrogen-fixing bacteria to be able to make amino acids for proteins), but your energy needs would be 100% taken care of.
If all I had to do was shove bacteria up my ass and drink water, that would be great.
Didn't this happen in an anime? Iirc it mostly served as an excuse for the main character to stumble across naked women sunbathing and then he'd get a :bonk: on the head
