Liminal mansion liminal mansion. That side view looks like some kind of entity that assumes the identity of a suburban home
You might be onto something.
Both these properties were built in 2001
It is believed that the properties were built by a local doctor,
Seriously, nobody can say what the fuck happened here twenty years ago, it’s a myth already?
Doctor was probably doing Medicare fraud, but the house is probably also built out of the cheapest plywood.
lol, "local doctor" makes it sound like he was just a small town pediatrician. There is no way he built this monstrosity on a doctor's salary alone, as lucrative as that profession can be.
There's a really good creepypasta about this concept called The Dionaea House.
I'm curious what the purpose of a house with that many bedrooms could be besides a cult
From the article OP posted above:
It is believed that the properties were built by a local doctor, who wanted to use the smaller mansion as his home, and the larger mansion as a live-in property for his patients.
If your home is a town unto itself, you never have to leave it. Excercise, entertainment, eating, working, sleeping; a room for every conceivable human function.
It's the ultimate expression of individualism and the founding promise (to white people) of America that everyone could be a landed noble.
"It's not a cult, it's an independent socialist state preparing to overthrow the US government"
Hank Hill: this is it
Pics of it falling apart: https://houseandhistory.com/abandoned-manvel-mansion-in-pearland-texas/
Some local business is trying to turn it into a church now because Texas.
Jim said, “There were probably 60 people in the room and 58 of them were opposed to The Bailey House”. Youngblood and Mode say the Manvel citizens voiced concerns about having homeless veterans in the neighborhood.
they wouldn't be homeless and what fucking neighbourhood?
At least the original idea behind it seemed pretty good. The locals didn’t want homeless veterans in their neighborhood but were totally ok with a 60,000 sq foot abandoned house that people frequently broke into. ___
There was a similar situation in my hometown, where the locals were opposed to an opioid rehab clinic opening because they "didn't want junkies all over their town..."
:shrug-outta-hecks:
lmao of fucking course this monstrosity is in Pearland
Giant suburb of a city founded specifically to evacuate scared white people out of Houston
More bathrooms than bedrooms
Planning to do some major shiddin in my McMansion :amerikkka-clap:
this is how i used to design houses in the sims, just put down a huge fuckin rectangle and then put stuff in it
An elevator
You know I kind of assumed that meant like a big elevator for moving large, heavy things up and down since the building is more long than tall, but no it's just a tiny elevator with a normal non-elevator door on it. The wildest thing is it was apparently designed to be something between a retirement home and an outright medical care facility, so it really should have had more, larger elevators with room for wheelchair access and probably a freight elevator somewhere, but even before the project fell apart it was just horribly ill thought out and poorly designed.
This is ridiculous, but it would absolutely fuck to have a sauna.
Seriously. Super eerie. The darkend room with an unfinished pool was 😬
Pop on some Caretaker and have a stroll around the liminal space zone.
They didn't finish all the rooms but they did an excellent job of making the place haunted from the beginning.
This is the most hilarious feature of the house to me. It's like the first time I ever used the TES editor to make a custom building for morrowind
It's so unbelievable hideous. If they have so much money why don't they design something that isn't gag-inducing?
