I watched a Bass Pro Employee thank two cops for their service today. Death to America

I don't care if it sounds cringe, I've really missed Chapo since it got taken away. It was such a fun and genuinely supportive community, and I'm glad we've got something like it again. The discord just isn't the same.

Watching videos on YouTube today I came across a 3-minute advertisement that was just colonialists in occupied Palestine complaining about how hard their lives had become due to the BDS movement. I had never felt such a feeling of resolve as when seeing that. Palestine is not free, it has not been liberated, the people are suffering tremendously daily, but the occupiers are beginning to feel it as well.

Our will is much greater than theirs, justice will prevail. Free Palestine.

I've been a critic of BDS in the past because of I don't think consumerist Boycott movements are very valuable, but that is actually very good to hear. Will have to change my tune on it, I guess.

BDS is good, even if it's not a cure-all. It had some impact on South Africa, but the real impact came with the fall of the USSR and them suddenly losing their value to the US.

So, participate, but with realistic expectations.

I used to be a conservative and about half of my friends are conservative. I'm trying my best to always push back on the weird shit they say. It's hard but if I don't push back they will never hear the other side. i'm open for some suggestions on rhetoric. I found that saying that I am not a liberal and critiquing liberals from the left really helps. I also am pro gun and I think that shatters alot of conservative minds. I have also found that just asking questions about their views and letting them talk then keep asking probing questions, this can really help show contradictions or inconsistencies in what they are saying. Sorry that all of this is probably brain dead obvious but I needed to write it somewhere. I hope all of you are staying safe and wont get evicted soon :(

Your method sounds great, a good socialist is a good listener.

I've found unemployment to be a really good topic for that kind of discussions. All the steps are very simple but the results are pretty deep. For me it's gone something like this:

      1. Imagine a world with 0 unemployment, everyone who wants a job can choose from multiple choises. What would happen to wages? How about profits?
      2. What would the wages rise towards? (Plants the seeds for labor theory of value) What about inflation?
      3. Flip the framing, now the unemployed are a socially necessary role, a reserve army of labor (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reserve_army_of_labour)
      4. Examine the welfare trap in this new framing. Talk about how the quality of life of a minimum wage worker has gone down, and will likely continue to go down.
      5. What could be done about it?

This has worked for me, but to be fair I have only tried it on libs. Results with conservatives may vary, but if the topic comes up and the audience seems to be open for honest conversation, I would recommend it.

I couldn't place my finger on why browsing this site felt so wrong but god does the new reddit format emulated here suck ass. Still will browse because there was literally nowhere on reddit to discuss protests/general corona insanity that isn't a lib/rightwing cesspool.

Also baseball lasted 3 fucking days before an entire team got taken out by the virus, it doesn't get more american than that

What’s even more American is the Marlins tested positive then traveled to Philadelphia without informing the Phillies, who they proceeded to expose to the virus.

How hard can it be? In Europe basically every football league has restarted without much issue, I don't get how they can be this incompetent.

That is actually if you think about it not that relevant, because at least at the start(not sure if they allow it now), players and support staff had to isolate anyway so that they wouldn't come into contact with the general population.
For example a coach in Germany was sanctioned because he went to a supermarket by himself. I'm not sure how the MLB handled it, but this should be doable even if you have not as low numbers as Europes were at that time.
