Watch the whole video here. Eloquent response to the haters. "If people don't like me that's their loss, they'll never win the Olympics." She exudes extreme "cry ab it" energy and I love it.

That would be rad as fuck honestly. An actual communist celebrity activist seems like it would be really important right now.

Yeah I think the chances of Eileen Gu being a committed communist are essentially zero. Most Chinese people aren't communists, and honestly don't give a shit either way. So long as the Party does a good job at governing China, it will receive support.

Yeah I'd bet against it. They're in the winter Olympics so they're rich and therefore unlikely to be communists. How is that controversial

I would also assume so, but at the same time skiing and skating are not that exclusionary sports, for countries with winters

Engles was stacked, does he not count as a communist? Besides, some of the competitors are teenagers, and just because your parents have a lot of money doesn't mean you can't be a communist — the furthest right of the zoomers that I know are succdems lol

honestly if she's not a communist or at least someone who is very critical of American foreign policy i fail to find a reason why she would choose to compete for China other than opportunism.

yeah, people are way too overhyped on her. she's a good athlete and as you said it's funny to see everyone having a meltdown over it, but it's probably the biggest neolib maneuver ever. she correctly sees the US as a sinking ship and China as an emerging giant and wants to build her brand in the most effective way possible.
this is the kinda shit that China needs to root out in the coming decades or else they risk having a population that does not care about people but only their treats.

did you see her reply to someone saying that they can't access whatever website in china? she goes to china very often and at the very least knows that comment was based on a lie.
i think she's more informed than you guys think.

the maoist uprising against the landlords was the largest and most comprehensive proletarian revolution in history, and led to almost totally-equal redistribution of land among the peasantry

I'm poor as fuck and just got back from snowboarding. A customer at work is going to sell me some top end gear for a couple hundred bucks and I'm gonna be going back with my cousins as an annual affair. I think she's addressing people talking shit about china. idk maybe you're right but idgaf after all the racist bullshit I heard while watching the events.

Lol this really hits. I exceeded my olympics worth of psychic damage from listening to NBC's coverage of the opening ceremonies, so I think I've got about 100GB of olympics footage on my hard drive from just torrenting the fuck out of non-American coverage of it

You know, setting up a hexbear private tracker would be pretty dope, I haven't had any free time lately but once I do maybe I'll look into getting a host for that set up so it's easier to share pirated shit

If you take "uneducated" to mean uneducated about china, then the statement is fine. But if you take uneducated to actually just mean uneducated then it kinda becomes a dogwhistle for poors.

Context matter, in this, obviously aim at all the peoples who call her traitor, and call China oppress state that don't allow peoples to access the internet.

??? this is a bizarre take. She's not telling the poors to fuck off, she's telling the people who go "oh man you're a traitor how dare you!!!" to cry about it. Context is important, the journalists asked "what do you have to say to your critics" and she replied "I don't really care about them, they're never going to win an Olympic medal and I'm just here to live my best life, I'm not going to waste my time trying to placate people who already hate me." Not sure how you got the idea that she's telling poor people to fuck off.

If she's from an area with snowy hills/mountains, it's entirely feasible for her to be poor and be a skier. You are looking for something to get mad about.

Sure, but on the other hand Dzerzhinsky's family were nobles and he grew up in their family estate.

Not saying that Gu is gonna be a hero of the revolution or anything bug judging an 18 year old on their parents background is weak.

I'm not saying she's the next coming of Dzerzhinsky, just that if we judge people based on their parents a lot of good leftists would fail.

The real propaganda value is in having a concrete example of a genius Olympian actively choosing a Socialist country over the US. She could have gone anywhere but she went to China, that means something.

you do realize as an asian-passing person (and even identifying) in America, she's probably getting an insane amount of racist comments right? her response needs to be taken in that context.
