The dominant Communist ideology is so pervasive that even when people try to oppose it, they end up trying counterproductive approaches like organizing their communities which just ends up strengthening solidarity. The reason Capitalism survived as long as it did wasn't because of a bunch mutual aid groups supporting it, it was because of atomization and alienation.

It all went wrong when Marx imagined that contradictions need resolving. The constant tension was the only thing that made life worth living. Remember that awesome tension when your boss would say "Hey, I pay you for your time, so you'll do what I say?" That alienation made life worth living.
