I started stimulants recently and the appetite suppression is kicking my ass. I already had a hard time eating enough, so this has made it quite a bit worse. I have found that if it's a liquid I can sip it throughout the day without issue. Do you have any recommendations about fairly healthy and inexpensive recipes or solutions for getting a lot of calories through a liquid? Thanks

If you actually brewed some kinds of ancient recipe beers you'd get something with a lot of calories and relatively little alcohol.

yeah they'd brew it down into batches. trappists did it, others too. you'd have like the good one which was high ABV and ruled. then you'd have a lower ABV similar to modern trash beers. then you'd have the shit one you'd just add to water so you don't get typhoid

Peanut butter banana smoothie. You can add plant milk instead of water to up the calorie density, but that will probably increase the price per calorie too.

Soup in a thermos is a good one. I also use electrolyte powder in water to help my shitty feelings.

I'm in a similar spot with stims too. But I have weight to lose so I don't mind the lack of calories, but the electrolytes really helped with feeling better.

Stims are rough. I'm borderline too think so unfortunately I have to worry a little more about that. I might try the electrolytes!

Also, know that the stims level out. I'm...4 months in? And there is no real negative side affects anymore. If you bump up your dosage, you will have a day or two of the temp changes and the wiredness, but it is a lot easier than the first time.

I did miss a day recently and I know a lot of it was withdrawals, but god damn, I had no energy, couldn't keep a thought in my head, and could not complete any task.

Helped me a ton. I'm constantly drinking water but kept feeling dehydrated. If you can get cheap gatorade (powder) it's probably the best, but I don't like the sweetness, so I got a sugar free one but it's just artificial sweetener to the max, so still shopping for a good one.

I started stims roughly a year ago. The first 6 months were hard, and I lost a lot of weight - I'm 6'3" and went from roughly 85kg (187lbs) to 75kg (165lbs). Am now 80kg (176lbs) consistently. If you can, see a dietician, their help was enormous to me.

It's crucial that you keep eating solid foods. The stomach is a muscle. Don't use it, and it gets smaller, and thus harder to put more in. I remember the indescribable feeling of not getting anything down your gullet, but it's the only way to make it easier. Once I started adhering to a strict "meal plan" and actually forcing myself to eat full meals, I could feel hungry again. I've been working out since I'm no longer on a permanent calory deficit and in the evening I am so. Fucking. Hungry. And that's with 60mg of Ritalin a day.

I bet you have an insanely dry mouth and bread is horrible rn, right? Make a cheese sandwhich in a frying pan with an american amount of butter®, drink full milk between each bite. Put very fatty meats on your bread. Eat full-fat yoghurt. This all means a lot of cals and easy ingestion. Sucks I couldn't do it :vegan-v: but this is the best way.

There are a lot of "make-your-own meal replacement" formulas from the still-figuring-it-out era of Soylent to be found. I drink the actual stuff regularly as an ADD stimulant user. It's a fine background food, doesn't get me out of the zone at all throughout the day, and I can just reach over and grab the day's jug when I get hungry. Plenty of competition in that market now, and do-it-yourself recipes.

The Soylent shits go away, and even any tummy rumbles do after a bit; at least they did for me. It's a huge nutrition bomb in one quick gulp if you're new to it.

        • I've had some of the shakes from Queal, and they're cool because they come in a lot of flavors, although the texture is not as fine as a lot of the others.
        • Plenny from Jimmy Joy was good, I enjoyed it. Drink is good, bars are OK. Better fruit flavors than Soylent.
        • Saturo Ready-to-drink was a totally fine replacement for Soylent Ready-to-drink. About equivalent in all respects.
        • Huel really didn't do it for me. Their artificial sweetener, whichever it was, had a hell of an aftertaste. It's cool that they had some more protein heavy stuff though.

Soylent is good. I recommend getting the coffee variety since coffee is a natural appetite suppressant if you need that. Otherwise just go for regular soylent

Ah, fuck, back when I was into it Soylent itself hosted a forum where folks tried all sorts of shit to figure out what blends and flavors of raw ingredients were good; it was actually a community effort, though they sold out and closed those forums. A lot of it might be lost to time. The Soylent :reddit-logo: probably has old posts along those lines. I'll check way back machine.

Meal shakes are $2ish per serving. I ordered some for when I fuck up and forget to cook. Get the powders, not the premixed stuff.

Get a good blender and a flask (I like thermoflask brand from costco but costco has other good flasks) and make a shake that is: 1/3rd frozen fruits 1/3rd veggies (spinach is good) 1/6th nuts (frozen walnuts are good) 1/6th avocados (the fat in them makes it filling) Also some linquid, keep it minimal you just need this so it blends I'd recommend anywhere from 1/2 a cup to 1 cup. I get oat milk in bulk from costco so that's a good option but coconut milk from Aldi is also pretty cheap

Add ginger for a natural preservative. Without ginger it will go bad within 8-12 hours with ginger it can stay up to 2 days and even 3 days if refrigerator. That being said it's generally recommended to drink a smoothie like this within 24-48 hours because the micronutrients will start fading around a full day passing.

add protein powder if you want but probably isn't necessary if you have nuts. Walnuts are there for the omega 3 fatty acids.

The reason you want frozen fruit is because it preserves nutrition better and can be purchased cheaper in bulk than lots of other fruit can be. You don't want frozen veggies though since freezing veggies depending on the vegetable can remove anywhere from 70%-80% of the micronutrients.

There's some debate in the field of nutrition over whether fruits and blended fruits count as an added sugar. the WHO doesn't qualify fruit sugars as added sugars so you're probably fine there. Even if they are sugars, limiting them to 1/3rd of the shake should keep it down.

If you do this I recommend sourcing from Costco or if you can't do that then Aldi. While technically a bit more expensive than other meals you can make it's also way easier and less labor intensive. Also you basically have more or less have all your micronutrients for the day so you can eat whatever dogshit you want and you'll have your food requirements covered.

I don't always use frozen fruits sometimes I just use bananas and oranges since you can get them in big bunches for reasonable prices. Frozen berries are just generally recommended since they pack lots of good anti-oxidants and stuff.
