    This limit is so stupid

Like obviously the most athletic women are gonna have more testosterone on average

It's like putting a height limit in basketball

The limit is only on female athletes with XY chromosome related disorders in sexual development(DSD). Women with XX chromosomes and no DSD (actually women with XX chromosomes and DSD have no testosterone limit, they changed the rules) have no limit on testosterone. Still very wrong of course.

I think they wanted to institute a blanket limit on testosterone for women's athletes but could not do it because of the reasons you explained in your comment, it won't work as athletes obviously have more testosterone.

I mean the stereotype of black women being muscular and masculine goes way back. This is definitely a combination of white supremacy, transphobia, and sexism. I competed in athletics for ten years of my life before an injury ended it, and black female athletes were always joked about secretly being men. This was the case in Guatemala where the sprints were dominated by black athletes from the Caribbean coast of the country.

The "black genetics" jokes are pretty much everywhere in sports as well. Its extremely weird how it works, like they think all Africans are the same, even though Africa as a continent has the most genetic diversity. Like look at the differences between West Africans competing in strength sports, Ethiopian marathon runners and Zulu rugby players. Pretty sure no one is going to call the marathon runner muscular because of their race, or call the rugby player lean and conditioned because of their race, or call the strength athlete an endurance master because of their race. Just very weird and racist jokes.

A lot of the black genetics talk revolves more around slavery as a racist way to explain why black athletes do so well in a sport. Announcers on the radio would loudly talk about how black slaves were bred to be strong and that's why our athletes struggled against the West Indian athletes. You don't hear it as blatantly on American media but it's something that would get whispered about between each other.

The slavery reasoning is such bs, humans don't work like that, we're not dogs that can be bred. If there's a trend of a certain group of people having certain traits in general, it's a long term evolutionary thing.

I don’t think they’re saying that humans literally couldn’t be artificially selected to exhibit certain traits so much as they’re saying that even when enslaved people don’t play along with their captors whims like dogs do. You can’t breed humans the way you would a dog because they won’t put up with it and any project trying to force that would necessarily take a lot longer because people take way longer to reach sexual maturity than dogs.

The canine genome is extremely varied and flexible, much more than many other animals and humans, and dogs live much shorter lives and reach sexual maturity relatively quickly.

World Athletics (formerly the IAAF) has been on this crap for over 50 years, they almost drove an athlete to suicide in the 60s by publicly publishing the results of their "gender test". Even the International Olympic Committee (IOC) thought they went too far and told them that they crossed the line.

Then there's the IAAF outing the exact sexual development condition Caster Symenia has in court documents, and now publicly outing these female athletes in the tweet as having XY chromosomes with this ban. Truly evil organisation.

I mean the point is very clear, anyone with an XY chromosome, even AFAB women with an XY chromosome (that's who the testosterone limits are being applied to), are not allowed to compete in the women's division. Its a violation of their right to compete.

I just hope the other two women mentioned in the tweet don't get their private medical information leaked like Caster Symenia did.

Just realised that world athletics banning these athletes has outed them to the general public as having an XY chromosome related DSD. Hopefully no more private medical information is revealed.

It genuinely is a good litmus test, not for politics but for a baseline level of reading comprehension.

Almost the entire plot is a sequence where a seven foot tall fourteen year old walking chad meme hijacks the TV, shouts out "I am the EMPEROR" at the entire world, instantly gets a super hot babe, then literally defies gravity through sheer cool factor until he's stopped by a cartoon villain. It's the impotent reactionary impulse laid bare, stripped of everything but the childish power fantasy at its core.

I find it hard enough to believe that anyone could read through all 1,095 word of the story and manage to take the 'Handicapper General' thing at face value, rather than as a absurdist parody of anticommunist propaganda; but to not pick up on how the title character himself is even more of a caricature, and the thing actually being lampooned, seems unthinkable.

"World" Athletics Council invokes race science to ban black and trans athletes. :shocked-pikachu: Will international sports experience a schism (perhaps if the west bans China from the Olympics?) or will we just see a slow decline of this kind of shit once the century of western humiliation is in full force?

Calling "race science" is a bit weird, since the testosterone limits in this case are only being applied to women with XY chromosome related disorders of sexual development. Its only "race science" if there's a false belief involved from world athletics that people of African ancestry are more likely to have XY chromosome related DSD.

To me it looks like an unjust attack on the right of AFAB women with XY chromosomes to compete in athletics.

But that's not what most people think of when the term "race science" is used.

The IAAF also annulled records or banned quite a few European athletes in the past over similar things. Ewa Kłobukowska's gender identification test in 1967 is probably the most infamous example of this. Led to a whole change in Olympic policy. Very sad that they still have not issued her an apology.

Polish nationalism pre-WW2 was like Nazi-lite in some ways, and a lot of those political leaders escaped to the UK instead of being killed or captured. Poland also took a chunk of Czechoslovakia in the aftermath of the Munich Agreement, and threatened to go to war with the Soviets if they tried to defend Czechoslovakia. It's been a reactionary country for a long time and it's been the US's preferred lapdog on the continent for decades because of it.
