The kang is a traditional heated platform, 2 metres or more long, used for general living, working, entertaining and sleeping in the northern part of China, where the winter climate is cold. It is made of bricks or other forms of fired clay and more recently of concrete in some locations.

Its interior cavity, leading to an often-convoluted flue system, channels the hot exhaust from a firewood/coal fireplace, usually the cooking fire from an adjacent room that serves as a kitchen, sometimes from a stove set below floor level. This allows a longer contact time between the exhaust (which still contains much heat from the combustion source) and (indirectly) the inside of the room, hence more heat transfer/recycling back into the room, effectively making it a ducted heating system similar to the Roman hypocaust. A separate stove may be used to control the amount of smoke circulating through the kang, maintaining comfort in warmer weather. Typically, a kang occupies one-third to one half of the floor space, and is used for sleeping at night and for other activities during the day. A kang which covers the entire floor is called a dikang. The heated bed and the heated floor are technically similar, but each developed in conjunction with a distinctive way of life, either sitting on the floor or sitting on furniture.

Like the European cocklestove, a massive block of masonry is used to retain heat. While it might take several hours of heating to reach the desired surface temperature, a properly designed bed raised to sufficient temperature should remain warm throughout the night without the need to maintain a fire.

Here is a link to a video demonstration of the kang itself and how it works

It's not like we really talk politics, he's mostly a friend of a friend. I'll just hope no one decides to look up my name on reddit and finds out I'm a tankie.

I would recommend not using the same name across multiple platforms. Then again most people that matter to me know that I consider the USA the great Satan so there is that. Like what are you gonna find out if you check my post history....he likes BIG BOOTY. A LOT

Apparently, in the 13th century people were on occasion cooking through a chemical reaction, similarly to modern self-heating meals. They'd prep their meal, put the pot into a larger pot, fill the space between both with quicklime and water, and just waited (hours) for the exothermic reaction to do its work.

If I wrote a RPG, I'd definitely include self-heating medieval cooking pots.

I like the braindead strategy of showing an animation of bottom surgery procedure to illustrate how SHOCKING it is. Like if you don't have to do it so why do you care? Also, most people get squemish at getting blood drawn, any sort of surgical procedure is going to look shocking. Like I've seen my arm tendons and it was pretty gross, doesn't mean I'm going to suddenly have a moral objection to getting them repaired.

Heyy everybody its Chef John from Fooooood wishes dot com with....

    Gay Sex!

That's right! We're taking a dinner night classic and adding a little twist. Now traditional Sex is between a man and a woman, but this time we're removing the women and adding in a second man. Maybe even a third. Exciting right?

Now you can adjust this recipe to however you like, it could be two women, non binary people, or an Italian style flavoring called t4t. You can mix and match how you want because after all, you are the Elton John of who you put your cum on

I have so many mixed feelings with it, first it's huge and every region of the world is interesting to play, but then it gets super infuriating due to bad IA and weird choices. Like for example two years ago I formed a cool Mali empire, I was the absolute dominant force in western Africa when I decided to kick the europeans out of the coasts. So I did it with the french fortresses first, but then I saw tons of Austrian and who knows what else troops moving down the balkans into Mamluk controlled middle east and egypt down the Sahara straight into my territory, what the fuck? No logistics in the 1700s allowed for that shit, and to make things worse the Mamluks were my allies (but neutral) and they let them in.

You can just walk thru neutral land like there is no tomorrow, logistics be damned, then there's the eurocentric conception of history but it's understandable coming from an european developer. Game's fun apart from that.
