Trump is the Republican Party, there is no distinction.
The vast, vast majority of conservatives love him and will vote for him literally no matter what he says or does.
Owning the libs is enough for them, they don't care how bad their material conditions are as long as they get that. Never Trumpers are so few in number that they might as well not exist.
Meanwhile Biden, offering literally no hope or anything worth a shit to people, will convince very few that didn't vote for Hillary 4 years ago to do so for him this time around. Not enough to win at least.
It's like Chapo said: The choices are screaming defiantly into the void as you die and hurting the people you don't like along the way, or dying quietly reminiscing about "the good ol' days".
If those are the 2 choices, the former is gonna be way more attractive to people.
I completely agree and it’s honestly a breathtaking loss to watch unfold because I truly think in these conditions in 2016 Hillary even could have won but people are so disillusioned and the Biden campaign is making all of the same dumbass moves that the Hillary campaign did that I think people really can see that these people are offering them literally fucking nothing. On top of this he can’t even rally support around being the first woman president. And On top of this they seem to be doing everything possible to alienate the black vote. Bernie could have been running away with this shit Rn. You aren’t gonna offer people better healthcare now of all fucking times? The political negligence of the DNC is absolutely fucking criminal and they absolutely must be either completely shattered or brought to heel by the nascent left for any kind of progress towards anything. I try so hard to explain to my family this fundamental truth of the moment but they just can’t see the forest from the trees. It was incredible watching them assimilate the Tara reade story in a really depressing way. And it would be alright to be wrong about all this I guess but honestly I think Trumps gonna take this one just like in 2016 and libs will go directly to blaming everyone but themselves also like 2016. You know, everything the same but somehow worse. Sigh.
Yeah that’s a really apt comparison to W. The thing I think that really show how screwed they are Is that despite what everyone else is saying in this thread about Biden’s good odds as of now and how vulnerable trump is; the lead is still much thinner than it could be and is only a few variables off of a loss! Hillary honestly probably would have won 2016 before the comey memo IMO and I personally got the exact same Ominous sinking feeling I did when I saw that news in October of 2016 When I saw the news of the death of RBG. It’s obviously not as directly damaging but that’s only to the extent that Biden can leverage It to his benefit and he just can’t seem to do that for anything. Like I said it would be pretty cool to be wrong but I will not be the least bit surprised if they just eat shit in November.
or some of the other incidents where he has admitted he supports fragging
It would actually be really cool if he supported fragging. Sadly, all he supports is fracking
You aren’t gonna offer people better healthcare now of all fucking times
Neoliberal healthcare is not an "offer" it's enslaving serfs to their neofeudal corporate bosses.
At this point I've given up trying to predict who wins. I'm just enjoying the ride and looking forward to shit posting come November
youre waiting til november? that cant be good for your postbowels to hold it in like that.
"shit posting" implying theres any other sort
I'm just fart posting for now. In November I'll be doing the biggest, brownest shit posting you've ever seen
this Red October remake is not at all what i expected.
not to mention my surprise that sean connery is in it
honestly, if he offered nothing, were he somehow a tabula rasa of political potential on which literally anything might be written, i would vote for him.
he isnt.
he offers quite a lot, and all of it is fucking bad
Imagine being in a pandemic and not even lying that you support universal healthcare
Since when has the narrative become that Hillary tried? The woman who didn't campaign in any important states?
debate should be something now that biden's on record as sticking with the 'prosecute looters' plan. people are fucking pissed. if he sticks with the line about arresting protesters and says nothing about prosecuting killer cops he's fucked.
hes courting the pro-homicidal-cop voting bloc
yknow, capitalists
I struggle to figure out what keeps the average user here coming to this conclusion when there's plenty of evidence to the contrary. Biden isn't running any sort of campaign beyond not Trump, yes, but that's exactly what most Americans want. In a serious economic downturn during a pandemic, the incumbent is going to face a serious uphill battle and Trump has failed to blame anyone else effectively. He's lost seniors and suburbanites, and the RNC's attempt to freak either group out about BLM has been a serious detriment.
So what's this analysis based on? I don't get it.
Trump has failed to blame anyone else effectively
Every conservative has fully bought into the China virus narrative. They want revenge on China, not their jobs back.
Okay, so with his base, but outside of that is that resonating with voters? I'm just not getting where y'all are getting this from.
Between the electoral college and the senate, he can retain control with just his base. What are the democrats in the house really prepared to do?
china took our jobs by sending the china virus to kill our economy! we gotta go over there and bring them back!
I honestly think a ton of people on here actively want Trump to win just to own the libs
That's what it seems like to me, or that they really want Biden to lose. I'm not rooting for Biden and I'm not voting for him, but I am not eager for Trump to win either. That and none of the indicators seem to be signaling that Trump is going to win right now.
Democrats win the Presidency when they inspire voter turnout. Sure, there are plenty of people for whom "we need to get Cheeto Drumpf OUT" is enough of a reason to vote for Biden, but I feel like the "I'm not Trump" message won't inspire enough turnout.
Democrats win the presidency on sheer numbers. There's just more Democrats than Republicans, and more independents who skew Democrat.
I donno, I'm so mixed on who wins still. Trump fucked up and created probably the biggest tragedy for the american people since vietnam. Like shit, let that sink in. 9/11 restricted some freedoms, killed a few thousand people here and whatever soldiers fucked up and enlisted, but that pales in comparison to how much covid has restricted peoples freedom, how much its killing people domestically and how much its fucking up peoples health and livelihood. Biden has such an easy moment to seize on. But he is completely failing to do so, he hasn't offered a clear plan-perhaps out of fear of saying "we will need to shut down again" being to grim, but its the fucking reality of things.
"9/11 restricted some freedoms, killed a few thousand people here and whatever soldiers fucked up and enlisted" mountain of several million corpses smoulders in the background
well yeah but mostly not americans. horrid as it is, we're at the point where the average american doesn't give a fucking about the people we're killing overseas. They don't see it so it might as well not be happening.
well fucking golly gee, sure would be nice if you mentioned all those innocent people all the other folks keep forgetting about when you bring up the topic of the forever wars being bad for america
They're talking about events with reference to the American election, an election where most of the people voting famously barely give a fuck about their neighbors, and certainly don't give a fuck about people outside their borders. Pretty sure everybody here knows who suffers most from American imperialism.
they were listing enlisted soldiers as a casualty of 9/11, and calling vietnam the previous "biggest tragedy for the american people " with a complete casual disregard for any non-americans in that post.
so, no, they can do better.
locking down again is the capitalist fork. they lose whatever they decide to do: lock down and watch the economy crumble until there's a revolution or stay open and watch death and disease drive people to revolt anyway.
The economy is already crumbling though. There's a split in the capitalists. By being in this semi lockdown state, smaller businesses are bled out. Big businesses take a hit, but they're willing to do that since they can absorb the customers of the small businesses that are forced to close. A lockdown would probably benefit the small businesses cause a six week actual lockdown would allow them to reopen afterwards, and the only way that lockdown is being sold to people is if there is economic relief alongside it.
yup. fully agreed. relief isn't coming because that would stop the big businesses from looting the small businesses. (one of the largest effects of this pandemic will be the mass proletarianization of the petit-bourgeoisie -- they're going to be fucking pissed for decades). and so we'll sit in limbo of semi-lockdown for another year and a half until a vaccine is ready.
the split in the capitalists is also interesting because I think it's driving them towards war with each other. there's a real question of which dam bursts first -- the movement in the streets demanding a provisional government or the split in the capitalists forcing a civil war. but the collapse of energy prices in the pandemic has made this a life-or-death issue for a huge segment of the bourgeoisie.
I don't see any sort of capitalist civil war happening, or even any sort of mass recognition of the split within them because there's such a mass power inbalance. The big guys will win. I think the most visible effect will be the almost certain takeover of theaters and restaurants, but there'll almost certainly be similar takeovers across a wide amount of industries. Hell we're seeing it in the gaming industry and they're not even hurting.
Trump’s gonna steal the election. It quite literally doesn’t matter what the electoral strategy is.
Trump's speech today absolutely wiped out everyone left that could be wiped out. He has nowhere to go but up.
There are absolutely some people who will not vote for Trump now, but their mostly those hardcore patriotic types that work for the military or CIA. Hell, I promise you the federalist society will drop their support for Trump as soon as they get their judge.
No one has been talking about the Libertarian party, who had a weirdly unenthusiastic primary and depressed turnout. Hell, Vermin Supreme looked like he had a semi-decent shot to take it at one point too. There's very little that Libertarians can offer that Trump doesn't right now, and I think Trump has the Republican base locked down tight, add some of the 4.5 million Libertarian voters from 2016 and I think he'll take it handily (🤮), for the reasons you said
IIRC, the polls Sam led in where entirely online based? But it's been a while so I don't remember the specifics but yeah Seder was at least a name in people's mouths this year
the right has barely any infighting compared to us- They can just shut up and vote for their redboi
