So. Heihehachi is back. HIs fans are very happy, most of them anyway. Thing is, I'm one of his fans. He's one of my favorite fighting game charachters. But the thing is, Tekken 7 was supposed to be the fucking END. Thats what we were told, "the Mishima story is over, he's dead now, for real this time".

WE never should have believed it lol. But here's the thing. IT didnt have to be this way.

Fighting game designers are scared to kill off charachters becuase people main them and want them to be in each game. OK, cool. Here's the thing, bringing back a character does not mean they have to be part of the plot lol. You can just... have them be playable? But their prescence is totally extra canonical?

Thats what i wanted to happen with Heihehachi in this game. But no like. They couldn't do it. They HAD to bring him back "in story". Stupid.

They did the same thing with M Bison in SF6 this season but at least there's sort of a new twist on how they're doing it and at least I wasnt told that it was DEFINITLY the end of that charachter lol. For that one I'm just annoyed because there's a ton of characters id rather be brought back (Dudley, Makoto, Poison, Menat, Alex, C Viper, Laura, Ibuki, Yun, Yang, Sagat, Vega, and Balrog all come to mind. Also Skullomania if they can get the rights). But its fine overall there.

If a fighting game kills off a character and brings them back on the roster, they should have spooky ghost makeup from then on.

It's wild how there's this concrete thinking about the roster that you just can't have a dead guy there. I assumed for most of the trailer that it was going to be like a Jujutsu Kaisen-style mystic channeling a dead spirit to fight as them, but then it was just him poofing out of a cloud of smoke.

It's a little neat how he's young again, at least.

The thing with just putting a dead character in the game is that they don't want the character's popularity to decrease over time. Unfortunately if a character does not get included in new story elements then nobody new gains any connection to the character and they go into longterm popularity decline.

This is probably why they can't commit.

Dude is probably the most recognisable and iconic Tekken character too. If I think of Tekken I see his hair silhouette in my head.

I feel like he's so iconic you probably could get away with him not being in the story. I mean, who the hell plays fighting games for the story? You just need characters to name-drop his name every once in a while.

The story could just have scenes that take place in the past or in a vision or something, it's not that difficult

I can't really think of a character in fighting games that was supposed to be dead and didn't come back in some form. Charlie, Guile's buddy whose whole thing is that he died? He's back now, in zombie form or whatever? Geese got knocked off a tower? He's back, in ghost form. Vice and Mature were killed by Orochi Iori? They're back too, and I don't even know if there's an explanation.

Also Skullomania if they can get the rights

Well, the rights are pretty unambiguous, Arika owns the character. I think they're open to working with Capcom, though. If you want to play as him in the meantime, there's Fighting EX Layer.

Yeah by "get the rights" I just mean make a deal with Akira like any other guest charachter (like theyve already done with SNK for Terry and Mai lol).

Well Mortal Kombat at least has the decency to go for time travelling shenanigans to bring their characters back.

I will be forever upset we don't get the trans M. BIson we deserve. I want to see one of his dolls doing drag king Raul Julia. It could be glorious.

They gave up ruby rod as an cast member in 6. So I know they are willing to have fun. With it. We got voice training seth.

I want M. Bison to transition to female using psycho power. Then dress up as Raul Juila playing M. Bison. I am talking pencil mustashe. Martini in had. It would be the most amazing thing.

Yeah trans Bison has been on my wishlist for a long time. I thought it MIGHT be possible because of what they did with Seth, but they wimped out on it in 6 lol.

Fair, I for one dont know how to feel that a cyberpunk character, Lucy is going to be in guilty gear (I rlly thought if a guest character was added they would put a blazblue character in) it just kinda feels wrong. Idk maybe my opinions will change later

I mean wire +gun zoner is straightforward, if kinda lame. Hacking was core to her character but idk how you pt that in a fg where 90% of the cast arent cyborgs

Bring my boy Necro back to SF already.

If they could do it for that ugly old man they can do it for funny opera man.

No need to throw Oro under the bus like that, it was enough of a miracle that he got in 5. I'm really pessimistic about Necro having a chance, especially since they have so. many. other SF3 characters to get through. Necro is at the back of the queue with Twelve and probably Remy, every single other character is getting in first, plus Vega, probably Balrog, definitely Sagat, fucking Mika probably . . . It's just not a good position
