Yep. A lot of the critical covid patients become critical when their immune system overreacts and starts just going nuts. Steroids suppress the immune system, as well as reduce inflammation. Definitely not an experimental drug by any means, it's been around for quite some time and has a ton of uses.
It's also only used on critical patients as it does harm to people with mild cases
