I like that we have deemed debate "struggle sessions" when originally those were more like everyone ganging up on someone with a shitty opinion lol

I think it's an important theoretical evolution. If everyone is beating up on one person it's no fun. You want roughly equal sides if you're going to have a spirited brawl.

If we aren't having struggle sessions that means at best we are interpreting theory dogmatically with no concern for the changes in conditions which have occurred since it was written and now. The world is incredibly complex and nobody can see the whole picture. It is important to have our assumptions challenged.

I enjoy the joke ones. Sometimes the organic ones are, well, not really enjoyable but still worthwhile. Not so cool when it's clearly someone just starting shit.

I like them when its heated and good faith, and I can learn by reading along and looking into it myself, but too often they get nasty and cruel, devolve completely from discussion to egging someone on while trading insults

I find that if you don't actively participate, they're very entertaining and often informative.

I enjoy reading them but I get mad bitchy when I get into them so I try to avoid it.

Times of conflict are the only time I feel alive. If there aren't gun shots going off in the neighborhood or cops circling the block with sirens to induce a primal fight or flight response I simply languish in a half-conscious stupor, my broken limbic system too exhausted to produce the right neurotransmitters to allow function.

When I got bored in class in grade school I'd plop my head down directly into my textbook for long enough that it the slightly glossy textbook pages would make my chin feel weird and I used to calll this book-chin

Ik that's not what you meant but thanks for unlocking that oddly specific memory

Shitpost about bookchin every few minutes until it becomes a meme, you'll get a struggle session going eventually.
