I gave up and started closing the lid after losing two tubes of toothpaste in quick succession
I can confirm it's widespread, i have started to close the lid as well because i'm tired of having to fish soaked TP rolls and socks out of the toilet. Anything i place on the ledge above my sink is at risk to be targeted by this evil scheme.
Just to be clear, at least afaik, i am not living with doublepepperoni, a_jug_of_marx_piss or other chapo posters.

You sure don't live with a cat or something? Cuz the structure and aerodinamics of a sock don't fit in my model of the sink-to-toilet pipeline
If there's a cat at my place, it has moved there without my knowledge and is hiding from me. Which i wouldn't rule out, it's a cat after all, they can pull that off, they're stealthy af. This is getting more worrysome by the minute.
At least you HAVE a toothbrush. Under communism, you would wish you had a toothbrush to accidentally send into the toilet
