Counterpoint: look at any successful revolution and you’ll see that they all have on thing in common: twinks. A sufficient amount of twinks is the make or break for any leftist project

I think you're mistaking malnourished people for twinks, though how can we really know if they weren't twinks before malnourishment 🤔

Hold up. Nazis had their share of Twinks, too.

I'm too fat and weak and sore from yesterday's workout to do 10 regular pushups, but I got to 5 and then did another 10 modified ones off my couch (because they're easier I made myself do more).

You're absolutely right, time to sweep for me too hahaha

Hey dude I’m really proud of you for doing even a little bit extra despite being sore.

It took me 2 years or so to go from 330 lbs to 190ish that I am now. Shit is not easy especially in the covid world.

I’d recommend trying to add short walks every day if you can. Maybe you can pump it up and go longer each time or go to a new place and explore your neighborhood on foot(depends on where you live obviously).

Sorry if I sound pushy or if it’s unwanted advice. I just want the best for you and everyone else lol.

Haha, thanks, but I've already implemented those suggestions and more. Keep on preaching though. Physical and mental health are so intertwined, and there's plenty of people who benefit from gentle nudges. It's certainly possible to be pro-health without body shaming.

Not to derail, but how'd you do it?

              Just became a gym rat?
Or is it a bit more nuanced than that?

              Keto?
              Veganism?

Or the long slow road of basic calorie restriction?

not the user you responded to, but I went from 220lbs to 140lbs @ 5'7" relatively fast a while back and yes, it really is just a slow road of caloric restriction. if you've been overweight your whole life it kinda sucks bc you're so used to overeating that you'll have to police yourself every second pretty much. the lower the weight the easier it gets kinda, bc even tho you have to eat less calories you get used to smaller portion sizes.
i'd heavily recommend that you also take up a gym workout routine alongside your dietary changes so that you muscle up or at the very least minimize your muscle loss during the weight loss. to lose a bunch of weight and end up skinny fat sucks, even if you didn't slim down purely for aesthetics. if you have any questions i'd be more than happy to answer them!

I'm on that long slow road. Again. Doing good, I guess, haven't regained, but post covid, things have slowed to about a pound a month, which is no bueno. However, I'm afraid of blowback and weight gain if I try anything too drastic to speed it up a bit. That's still better than weight gain ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Trying to focus more on relearning the healthy habits and unlearning the bad ones this time than actually "dieting" as it's commonly conceived of.

Things get harder for me when I get smaller, unfortunately. The first half has always been easier.

Activity is tough post covid. That's a big reason for the near plateau. Because I'd just try to find excuses to be out and about, and that worked. However, that's not really as possible anymore.
Whenever I pep talk myself, I just end up with a bulky clothes hanger or gym contract that I couldn't really afford.

dude, same, right when i turned 30, magically my body doesn't break down carbs as well, and it grew a belly. i use to be able to drink as much beer as i wanted and nothing would change. now i have to limit my intake dramatically while also lowering my sugar and other carb intake. i have to like, diet forever now. i usually only have like 30mins, and hour or so of time to do physical activity on most days, and honestly, i can hardly handle more than that anyways. but goddamn, it's shocking how fast we start retaining fat and shit after the golden age of our 20s ends.

Good for gaining weight but not so good for your hormonal intake and animal welfare. For a less calorie but more protein I suggest soy milk.

While Chapo was getting shut down, a lot of other leftist spaces simply went through moderator purges.

LSC is now the Extinction Rebellion of leftism. Just a bunch of screamers doing progressive stack and banning anyone that doesn't double down on liberal propaganda.

Marx: Communism is the result of a process that requires capitalism.

China: does some capitalism in order to progress towards communism

Western Marxists: China is state capitalist, not communist.

Whatever China's system is, it's not capitalism as the bourgeoise democracies of the West understand it. The surplus value produced by the Chinese proletariat goes overwhelmingly towards improvements to their quality of life, the state plans the expansion of Chinese capital more directly than any other extant system, and perhaps most importantly, the bourgeoise themselves don't have massive pull over the government the way ours do. Xi recently told Jack Ma to get fucked when he tried to IPO a new company, because it was determined that that IPO wasn't in the best interests of China as a whole - could you imagine Joe fucking Biden doing that to Elon Musk?
