Good luck to any comrades that have to work during that weekend, or have to fly because of social obligations. The case and death rates in the next three weeks are going to be horrific.
Conservatives have already made Thanksgiving their new culture war thing. "Don't let them cancel Thanksgiving for you!" they scream this after 250k have died. At this point, they are outright calling for genocide.
Black Friday will be right after Thanksgiving, the favorite capitalist holiday where people go nuts to get discount prices on what is usually overpriced shit to begin with. I'm so glad I don't work at Walmart anymore. Black Friday was a nightmare.
Black Friday crowds have been declining for years because the deals are completely trash, and online can do it better anyway. Hopefully lockdown fatigue and psychotic nostalgia doesn't reverse that trend.

This really depends on the area. The crowds were still pretty high last time I worked a black friday back in 2018.
I'm legit worried because my work has been making everyone go back in, and I need this job but I can get to it without going on the train. Your girl's getting lung damage at some point in this, I've just come to terms with it.
what :porky-happy: will get away with left unchecked
These people act like they don't have homes. People need to lose their civility and leave one or more turds on the front porch.
Store I'm at is closed for Thanksgiving. Asked boss man if I can get Black Friday off too considering I haven't taken a day off since I started 6 months ago. He made some really veiled threats and that was the end of the convo. I can't risk losing this job so I didnt say shit.
Yesterday or the day before had just about 2000 deaths a day. That's the highest it's been since April. The elections+Thanksgiving+black Friday+ holiday season + Christmas are going to turn this into a bloodbath folks. A super wave of coronavirus.
This. Earlier in the pandemic tho the rise in numbers caused a response from the state. Now, not only are the numbers going up, but we're doing absolutely nothing to stop it.
This map is terrifying to me: https://covid19risk.biosci.gatech.edu/
How could anyone go through with plans for what is simply an arbitrary date to gather? How about we wait until there's something to be thankful for before celebrating it?
I am so glad to be in Seattle. I'm so glad to be out of an apartment.
I really worry about what this is going to do to the places that get hit really hard. It's gonna be bad.
What is the big roasted turkey like? I have never had one and they look like a lot of food. Someday I could try to find one and host a nice dinner for rural youths LGBT support WeChat group I run.
Depends on how it's made. If it's properly prepared and cooked it's good. If not it's bad. Best way to prepare is brining for like 24 hours and best way to cook is to cook it with tons of spices and butter, then slice the whole bird, then throw the juices and stuff on those slices and serve. Turkey is bland as hell if done wrong but if done right is so good
Smoking is also apparently great.
and yeah herb butter rubbed under the skin after properly brining it. More butter to really get it golden.
and you gotta make gravy.
That sounds really sweet! Turkey is sort of a bland bird on its own, needs sides and stuff, plus serious seasoning to have a good taste, at least the way my family cooked it haha. The mashed potatoes and gravy were my favotire, that with turkey and stuffing makes a nice filling savory meal.
Peanut oil 😍
I never would have though of cooking a whole ass turkey in it though, I respect that
Turkey is good. Last year I made my first one, and it went pretty well! Now, last year I was using my folks' kitchen, and this year I'll be using my own, but I'm still excited for it. I bought a small turkey this year, since it's just me, and I'll be eating leftovers for days afterwards.
Hell yeah brother I smoked some ribs using a kettle grill and they turned out exceptional. Keeping the heat consistent can be finicky and it takes a lot of fussing/attention throughout the day but holy shit it's worth it. Hmu if you want any pointers, or if you want to talk bbq.
I get to switch to a non people facing job 2 days before Thanksgiving :praise-it:
Happy for you comrade :maduro-salute:
Side note, do we have any flairs of leftist women saluting? I didn't see one but I'm blind af.
My family is driving down to my cousin's house. It will "only" be 7 of us, and they think it's fine cause we're not flying. And ignoring how 4 of the 7 go into work every day. One of which has had multiple COVID cases at work... I swear if they give me COVID, I will use it as an opportunity to yell at them.
Thanksgiving is gonna be bad but christmas is gonna be the real knockout punch.
Gods imagine if the vaccine comes out immediately after we just culled the population over the holidays.
Thanksgiving is going to be a bloodbath because I have to go home and sit next to my reactionary stepmom
i have to do tsgiving solo run for my whole department since i was only given enough hours for that and fuckit let's do this. my crew needs time off.
My Dad is going to have to yell at my Grandpa because he wants to come over.
