Capitalist really like to shoot themselves in the foot as long as poor/brown people suffer the most.

Only because they're unproductive. If you want capitalists to love children (besides the Little St. James way), give children the freedom to work!

How are they shooting themselves in the foot? By not listening to their enemies smugly tell them what they should do?

Well, capitalists probably don't really want to live in the horrible world their greed created, you know, this fucking world. But their greed blocks them from improving it.

Sadly, 99.999999% of capitalists pigs don't face any consequence ever, no matter how big of a crisis they create.

Capitalists live in fully automated luxury communism already. They love this world. Their greed might make them unhappy, but otherwise, they have everything.

But no matter how many pinkertons they hire, they still have to jump over hobos and poor people from time to time. And some might not like climate change flooding their beach houses.

Yes, of course. Is just that, particularly here in latam, white rich fucks are always moaning about "oh I don't belong to this filthy country filled with mosquitoes and brown people that is poor because they are brown, I should be living in Europe like my great grandparents, where everything is nice and good".

What they are craving, besides racism, is a fucking country with a non-colony-like economy together with social policies that result in low poverty. But if you mention them "let's try to have some of those policies here" they piss and moan and shit themselves and call a death squad on you.

YES, a lot of it is racism, white poor fucks moan the same, but you get it.

They resent the tensions that exist in the world.

FALC wouldn't need to spend one sixth of all generalized income on security- and that's a lowball estimate.

Yes, but they only exist as a last resort! FDR-style Social Democracy happened because the entire world had melted down and there was not only an active Communist state, but also recent attempted revolutions in other Western states (Germany most notably with Spain right after it go going), and militant labor.

Now, we are nowhere near the condiotions of the Depression, not even fucking close (and the refusal to acknowledge this is a big problem). Now, we just have a bunch of non-profit/media careerists and desperate, usually mentally ill, beggars who think that their cause is the most important thing in the world and you're a bigot if you don't immediately ask for exactly what they want (but have zero institutional power or mass support for)

Capitalists don't give social democratic reforms unless they absolutely have to. Claiming that the reforms are "inevitable" and negotiating surrender before you're even in trouble is fucking loser talk, you don't do that shit!

How are they shooting themselves in the foot? Social Democracy is the "in case of emergency, break glass" option. Capitalists have lots of other ways to protect themselves once it all comes crumbling down...

It's almost like austerity is a deliberate measure to try and kill off anyone that capital deems "unproductive" because of their physical, mental, and/or economic circumstances. I told this story before on chapo but my coworker once told me that we should force anyone on welfare to do pointless menial labour like shovel sidewalks in order to earn their means of survival, and when asked about disabled people he said "if you're not able to work then what's the point of you being alive?"

libs are in denial about all of this which is bad enough, but these fucking sickos who know exactly what they're doing are a different type of scum.

Sidenote but this guy also proposed that cities should privatize public transit so it "can compete effectively in the transportation market against uber and lyft." To do so he says they should separate the bus between first and second class seating with first class having things like nicer chairs and air conditioning while second class is just a normal bus. This guy is from a town of like 1100 people out in the berkshires so I don't think he's ever been on a city bus. On top of that just being a horrendously stupid and cynical plan, I hate it cause I can't drive due to seizures and thus HAVE to ride the bus

I forgot to add: in the same conversation as welfare and transit, this guy BRAGGED to me that he wrote a paper in college about how slavery was necessary for the creation of modern capitalism. Like that's some kind of slam dunk that proves him right?

He had nothing to offer the left in terms of policy, but he wasn't willing to pursue power within the party through the proper channels. He didn't have the right donor list and he didn't call the right committee leaders on their birthdays, so the party made sure that he didn't get jack shit.

Yep. Yang wasn't much of a candidate, and his policy was bad, but he discussed UBI at all and the loss of jobs so he still earned the blacklist.

It's wild how a program that would barely cover rent for you is something that would amount to 20% of GDP.

      Capitalism is so incredibly abundant.

Yang during the primaries vs Yang now seems considerably different in a positive way. He genuinely did a lot of work to help promote downballot candidates who were meaningfully to the left of his earlier campaign and what not. Definitely better than Warren for sure, and I didn't necessarily feel that way in say Summer of 2019.

Kinda hope he runs for Mayor of NYC as I doubt Yang wouldn't be at least as good as Stringer.

I don't agree with the first point in the current day as he was repeatedly advocating for the government to issue debt to give people pandemic UBI payments, there's certainly been a considerable shift towards the Bernie wing of things as he developed a real theory of power since suspending his campaign. Still certainly a social democrat at most though, and probably does believe that M4A would be better implemented by just giving people cash to buy private insurance rather than a direct public implementation.

And yeah he's a centrist on a number of social issues, but guess what, so are most Americans.
