I downvoted this to be a contrarian, but actually I am happy for you and am glad that your family has come around.

Also that your dad can eat shit even if he did have a change of heart.

Are you going to get it done in the US, or are you going out of state?

you can volunteer before and after pics basically to a surgeon so people after your surgery can get an idea of what they are going into. i'm definitely gonna do it just to help a comrade out later down the line. a lot of surgeries that are reconstructions and have strong aesthetic concerns are like this.

he is ok now, enough to not put up a huge fuss at my mom becoming a way better human being than him. i think he was super pissed that i wasnt his ideal son but then realized over time i was dating a beefcake who certainly is within the realm of what his ideal son would look like and he kinda adopted my boyfriend

I hear that in some Republican states they make you have a funeral for your dick

so what happens is they usually keep most of your dick and use it for the construction of a neovaginal canal and for aesthetics / good feelings along with some other optional bits (such as abdominal tissue to make things super pink and mucousy down there and stuff). they usually get rid of the central bit of the dick (the spongy stuff that gets hard) and sometimes have options for keeping testes for enby peeps and stuff.

speaking of which, with enby surgeries, they can give you a vagina while also keeping your dick and put your testicles further up. ultimate centrist move

so it isnt like im making myself smooth down there, but its more of a repurposing to make myself happier and allow me to wear tight pants without packing my dick up my asshole

:10000-com: IQ idea: there are companies that will take a cast/mold of your cock and use that to make a dildo the exact size and shape as you. Do this, and then fuck yourself on the other side.

Just incredibly, unreservedly happy for you! And on the very off chance you're a Star Trek TNG fan:

Doctor: "Is there any special arrangement you would like for the cock?"

kristina: "It is only an empty shell now. Please treat it as such"

(I know that's not how it works exactly but the idea of Klingon death ritual for a cock makes me laugh every time I think about it.

Congratulations with getting the surgery and with the family breakthrough. I'm so happy for you :trans-heart:

The surgery should not be something reserved for those who can give the money. Like other necessary health care of should be freely available.

Even by capitalist standards the US healthcare system is evil. I can't imagine how horrible it must be to depend on these corporate death panels for your healthcare.

My country is as capitalist as any but at least we have national health insurance that covers most needs. Trans healthcare is far from perfect here but at least transgender people get subsidised prices for their prescriptions and some surgery is covered.

the big issue for trans people here is the surgeries and ongoing costs. the best thing about american trans healthcare which should be standard everywhere is you can get hrt within a week no questions asked (other than your credit card #). saved my life. barring hrt through nonsensical bullshit kills people, its not like a cis person just casually demands hrt, only trans people get on it after a huge amount of deliberation.

argentina has recently moved in that direction though, so i am really excited to hear about people that get into trans health there recently. they have the public health and the quick wait times on hrt.
