There's a reason it took about a month to get this site going. It would have only taken a day if we wanted to spin up a docker container and call it a day, but we wanted to make sure we weren't committing malpractice.

Anyone serious about privacy should do it (delete EXIF data) to any photos or screenshots they upload, regardless of site policy.

Just because a site (let's say imgur, for example) strips your EXIF data before making your images public, doesn't mean they aren't logging it before stripping the data. If they get hit with a subpoena they could even be forced to log it without telling anyone.

It's probably impossible to have privacy these days. Amazing the amount of rights tech giants have managed to breach without facing a lot of repercussions.

You're right but I still try no keep some privacy, using a DNS level ad and tracker blocker on my home network, Ublock origin, Firefox, etc. It's not much but every little bit helps I guess

There are photo/video editors and applications that allow you to delete/wipe the EXIF data. Then comes the the question whether said application or editor is compromised and uploading your data, and if everything in existence is an op, and ....:doomjak:

But still it's always better to wife the EXIF metadata, even if everything is an op

one(1) boomer from texas that moved there fifteen years ago after retiring from their job as a business owner in housing development and realestate, probabaly.

he has nothing to do all day but post chud shit from his expansive side deck hammock overlooking a scenic cliff face vista.

his two(2) large adult sons, that still live in the family home near austin, visit periodically throughout the year and help add to the cumulative total.

Nah this post is about parler.com, the chud twitter clone that got taken down yesterday. gab.com is the new chud twitter clone, based on a fork of mastodon I think. Went on there yesterday and the first post was a Q account telling people not to update their phones because doing so would break the presidential emergency alert system, and you'll miss your very special message ™️ from trump. Chuds really have an obsession with not updating their phones lately lol.

I'm amazed it's still up after that security kerfuffle.

tbh, I wouldn't be surprised to find out it's an op to have all the chuds spill their guts in an app directly controlled by law enforcement lmao

Gab is older, and it only forked Mastodon to try and avoid censorship. They had their own software and app but the apps got removed from the Apple App Store and Google Play. They forked Mastodon in hopes of being able to use it’s front end apps because you can sign into any instance, however almost every app has blacklisted them.

Got a source for that? Googled a bit but couldn't find anything, and I'm really curious to know how they managed to fuck up that bad.

I saw it on here, links to twitter discussions about it, you could probably locate it by searching here for "logged in" or "gab"

Hmm, just searched using both Chacha's built-in search and Duck Duck Go and didn't find anything. Hopefully someone will wander by who has it bookmarked or something.

Pulling the videos, hope I'm not downloading horrible shit. Someone tell me this is a bad idea.

Edit: Gonna stop once it hits 2020 timestamps and reevaluate. Kinda doubt I have the storage space.

Edit: I guess I should at least grab everything from 1/6. Worth noting most of the videos aren't available anymore, I'm just getting what is.

    From Kyle's Github:

Many videos are still available as of January 11th, 2021.

    • Add 8.240.242.124 video.parler.com to your /etc/hosts file.
    • Go to the URL 'https://video.parler.com/{e[:2]}/{e[2:4]}/{e}.mp4'. Here is an example. (https://video.parler.com/mL/FV/mLFVFnRzLjic.mp4)

GPS data from videos here: https://gist.github.com/kylemcdonald/8fdabd6526924012c1f5afe538d7dc09

EDIT: FWIW I've tried this and couldn't find any videos. May be too late to do your own scraping, but I could also just be a sleep deprived dumbass haha.

Yeah I tried, couldn't get in my area. Kind of a shame, I've got some GPS coordinates though. If there's ever a library of these videos available ever again I'll be happy to see who it is lol

Actually amazing that Parler devs are apparently that incompetent/uncaring. All major social media does this, it is extremely easy to dox someone via EXIF data.
Appreciation to the Hexbear people, of course.

So Parler was like a Cambridge Analytica op right? So they could scrub a bunch of Chud's data and get info on them even easier? That's my guess

i find it more crazy that a simple pic you take on your phone for some reason has your gps coordinates embedded into it.
