Let's see how many of you will know what I'm talking about.

Edit: this makes me realize the old internet was a lot better. You could find so many sites by interesting people. Now you just hit refresh on like only 4 sites all day and you want to die.

The old internet was so nice.

No one could figure out a way to make money, and no one was as complacent.

    Still full of nazis tho

Two of my favorite sites were a delta flyer fansite that was amazing and matrix-explained.com, basically a collection of like 20 in depth essays about every aspect of the trilogy. Both of them are gone now. If someone wanted to makes something like that today it'd be just another entry on a wiki or a shitty video "essay" or medium post.

Edit: before google ads people on the web were doing it for the love of the game.

Here's my old man internet memory for the day:

I remember downloading replay files for Warcraft 3 along with .mp3s of "commentary" that independent creators would put out, some of them pro players, usually players participating in the game, but not always. Sometimes it was just someone that was funny but also knowledgeable about the game, so you'd load it up, sync up the timestamp per the replay mp3 file, countdown, hit play - and you'd just watch it and listen.

It was like a bizarre asynchronous stream, and I loved the fuck out of them. The only thing like it that still exists is stuff like fighting game commentary youtube videos.

The FGC was streaming entire tournaments world wide on like 5 mbit connections before youtube was even a thing

Now that's called Periscope (if it even exists anymore). Also dudes in garages smoking huge bongs.

The amount of football matches I watched on Justin.tv back in the day was great. Four Nations rugby on an Arabic Justin.tv stream? :marx-ok:

What I remember is how the FGC streamed all the tournies before anything like twitch existed. Team Spooky is a legend.

Good days. I was so happy when I started streaming an old Arabic movie which I titled "hot models having sex" or something like that, and I got 600! viewers. It was huge back in the day

Now you can find Egyptian movies on Netflix. Honestly the old internet was better.

      What was the movie?
