I acknowledge that it's the reason I will face the wall when the revolution comes, but I kinda like James Gunn's superhero movies.
I like his work too; it's vaguely Leninist-Bidenist. He must've read some of the better national socialist literature like Marx's Das Kapital and Obama's the audacity of hope.

Heck, the 2nd GotG was also pretty great. You never really see movies tackle toxic fatherhood in quite the same way
All my friends are excited and I'm like "Why do they keep trying to make these movies funny? The comics were all about humanizing C-list villains and were mainly dramatic."
Like, DC is trying real hard to pull the "Wacky Ha Ha" Deadpool style market WHEN EVEN THE BEST FUCKING DEADPOOL COMICS HAD SOME ACTUAL FUCKING PATHOS IN THEM
Hot take but the original Deadpool comics weren't funny (probably because, as my friend put it, the authors are artists and not comedians). I read a number of them and....yeah he's no spider-man (I looked up specifically the earliest ones so I could keep them in chronological order, so perhaps the later ones were funny?).
Yeah, now he's mainly wacky goofy man, but his early solo comics by Fabian Nicieza are actually full of really good writing and turned Deadpool from a rip-off of Deathstroke The Terminator into more of a sad clown type.
I remember Matt calling the dialogue style in these movies "Marvel soy banter" and I feel vaguely insulted every time I have to listen to it
I don’t know what’s worse. That this is looks like another average MCU type comic book movie or the Snyder fans bitching that’s it’s not overly dark crap.
James Gunn already did the great snarky superhero movie with Super and everything after that is pointless
I for one will watch this and enjoy it because it will be stupid and fun. I like Gunn’s work (lmk if there is something bad about him that idk)
It's sad that Superman The Movie is over 40 years old and it's pretty much the only capeshit that doesn't outright suck.

James Gunn has had a decent track record, I'm sure it won't be anything special but I don't see it being appalling.
