Genuinely the funniest shit I’ve seen all day. All week even.

Kim Jong-Un builds life-sized version of the board game Mouse Trap, where dissidents have to play the role of the mice and their family members are forced to be the guy that gets dunked into the wash tub

I think the funniest part is like, girl, how do you know? You go back every weekend to witness some new and cartoonish atrocity, then come back Monday morning to hit up Fox news and tell everyone? Or you've got a secret way of contacting people still in country despite also repeatedly stating that contact in or out of NK is impossible? Or are all these tales from your childhood or something? Like, pick a fucking tack and stick to it.

      Or she’s a liar.

It's all very obviously ridiculous and it drives me nuts that so many people just eat it up. But denying it makes you the delusional one! 🤪

Being a right winger must be cool, you can basically just make up shit and lie about anything and your fellow right wingers mostly just say "that's just my opinion" or "kek" or "lol triggered?" and it's like a get-out-of-fact-checking-free card.

Jesus fucking christ, my parents do this shit constantly. About like, shockingly blatant facts. Like I can site the US Bureau of Labour Statistics or my own medical records or something, and they're like "That's your opinion. I could spend just a much time as you googling the opposite opinion" and usually that literally isn't even possible.

Honestly, I think it often skirts further away from "I love America, a country I moved to from a marginally better one in order to make more money in thanks to an exploitative healthcare industry, only to find out that the leopards ate my face and I actually have a lower quality of life than I would in Canada, in spite of having a slightly shinier Mercedes than I would there" and more into "I refuse to believe any objective fact that shows I made any poor choices or abused my children, or that I actually did experience privilege that others may not have had."

That is to say, I think it's less about actual ideology and more about self preservation of their own psyche. Although, perhaps those things are more closely related than we think.

holy shit my brother does that to me, yesterday i told him he wouldnt find any extra enjoyment from buying a big expensive jeep and he said its just my opinion, despite him not even having his permit yet, he hasnt experienced driving more than a dozen times and hes telling me that big box that pulls pedestrians under it is more fun.

My family always seems to have so much fun being right wingers. Half of their politics come down to making people mad, the other half are wild conspiracies about demons wearing people suits.

They've told me North Korea sends air waves over the ocean that makes American water poisonous. They also constantly mix up China and North Korea, but it doesn't seem to even matter to them.

She's cornered the market on fake defector stories. Got to feel bad for the balding 40-year old diplomats that defected, they don't stand a chance against her.

Meanwhile, here I am in an ex communist country, just begging my boomer parents to recall even a fraction of the theory they were supposedly forced to study. How can you not have even a basic understanding of class struggle when you grew up in a socialist country you twerps!

Ok, but the US has actually literally said this about literacy rates in Cuba and South America :kermit-pain:

I know US Americans who unironically believe this. Like, when you mention how literacy rates improve dramatically when socialists are power say in Cuba or Nicaragua, they say that's only because they want to feed people "commie propaganda" and that's the only thing they are allowed to read.

Funny enough, the people I'm thinking of see nothing wrong with sending their kids to private Christian schools where learning about science involves teaching the earth is <10k years old and history is about how the Israelites left Egypt under Moses. They don't let their kids read Harry Potter and they can't listen to any music other than praise & worship and classical music. Ask me how I know...

I don't believe it. This is not real. It can't be. I mean it even has the “Is Kim Jong-Un Gay?” addition just so it's clear and obvious this is a bit. There's the cartoony thing about it happening in front of every artist in Pyongyang. I mean, he did it while running around in circles and the orchestra was playing Yakety Sax, right? hah!

This... this is not a joke? Really?
      Really. My god, it's real.

He chained up the orchestra and had crows eat their organs each day.

Then he would heal them each morning, and the process begins anew.

Yes, Kim is gay. Kim is gay in San Francisco, black in South Africa, an Asian in Europe, a Chicano in San Ysidro, an anarchist in Spain, a Palestinian in Israel, a Mayan Indian in the streets of San Cristobal, a Jew in Germany, a Gypsy in Poland, a Mohawk in Quebec, a pacifist in Bosnia, a single woman on the Metro at 10pm, a peasant without land, a gang member in the slums, an unemployed worker, an unhappy student and, of course, a Zapatista in the mountains.

Kim is all the exploited, marginalised, oppressed minorities resisting and saying 'Enough'. He is every minority who is now beginning to speak and every majority that must shut up and listen. He is every untolerated group searching for a way to speak. Everything that makes power and the good consciences of those in power uncomfortable -- this is Kim.
