I just want to enjoy a show damn it, not have to explain the exact same thing to my friends that can't comprehend communist countries had good to them.

Bizarrely, I'm enjoying it more now than I did when I was younger despite the liberalism (it was made in the Obama years so I feel that was the height of Hollywood liberalism). I feel like I'm a bad leftist for enjoying Korra.

I mean, I don't expect good politics from any major studio, especially Nick who treated the show like absolute shit.

I started watching it the other day since it was on netflix. I got sick of it half way through season 2 and now I'm rewatching the original show. It's just so much better!

I did the same during its initial run. Season 2 is absolute dogshit, but Seasons 3 and 4 are much, much better

yeah, same. i'm lowkey dreading far cry 6, because it's a game set during an uprising in a south american country and the game is being made by a massive first world company full of civility libs. you know they'll pull some major bullshit. I feel like media generally is about to start reaching for like deeper topics, and there's a 100% chance they'll make it very clear that fighting to change anything is evil.

I would be 0% surprised if the dictator is overthrown halfway through the game, and for the rest of it you'll fight the "new regime" led by Fastro Cidel that's akchully just as bad as the previous one.

I was so hoping the antagonist would be a Batista analog and you could play as a Castro analogue but just from the vibe of the trailer i think it's just a generic dictatorship with a shitlib/nationalist uprising. i bet they'll be a nominally "communist" faction that will be painted as equally evil. fuck. i just want my Castro/Che co-op open world guerilla war game

see that's where you fucked up. It's ubisoft. i'm not about to trust again after the fuckery they pulled in 4; like rip Amita, but I guess trying to end child marriage, misogyny and exploitation makes you into a worse person than a colonising dictator ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I've been really enjoying this kitten game but apparently communism has an undocumented "feature" where you get a massive food penalty during cold winters. Because ha ha communism means no food.

Cold winters already give -90% food, so making cold winters worse actually isn't really that big of a deal.

      But yeah, it's pretty lame.

There are definitely some anti-neoliberal themes presenting themselves in media these days, if not explicitly pro-socialist. I watched the Amazon Prime series 'Upload' a couple months ago and it's basically an eight-hour condemnation of every shitty neoliberal consequence. Maybe it's just that neoliberalism is failing so blatantly that it's impossible not to notice and comment on it, but still a good sign in terms of highlighting the problems that socialists have seen coming forever.

Its alright, thinks it's funnier than it is. Feels like PMC snark on society but doesn't really have any path to a solution. Worth an episode or two to see if you're into it.

It's a deeply sardonic, somewhat high-concept take on a neoliberal dystopian near-future. Hits the nail on the head a few times. If you already have Amazon Prime or can easily pirate stuff then I'd say it's worth giving a shot. Like I said, whether the writers are aware of it or not, they wrote a fairly competent bit of anti-liberal agitprop.

"Damnation", a very pro farmers union show set in the 30s, is absolutely worth checking out. Only got one season, sadly, but still, give it a watch.

I wouldn't be surprised if they do something with Bernie's politics soon, (now that he is neutered). If they do something that is in defense of the USSR or even China, I'll be even more shocked.

OG Deus Ex basically mashes together both far-right and far-left ideologies and conspiracy theories (one of the lead designers said this in a GDC talk), which makes parts of it surprisingly cool and others really bad. I'm not sure if I'm biased, but I found the right-wing stuff easier to ignore.
