There's a very, very, very slim possibility that he's just really fucking stupid, since the odal run doesn't have the little wings on it that the Nazi version uses, but I'm like 95% sure this guy's a nazi.
Runes are still a bit iffy in the nordic area, a tattoo that visible would be read by 99% of people here as nazi affiliated, something more private like shoulder or something would be more ambiguous but you dont do it that blatantly and unavoidable to the eye without wanting to be really clear about what you believe.
Yeah, that guy would get clocked as a nazi by any white supremacist faction in the US. If it was something other than the odal rune you could maybe make excuses for him, but no one picks the "blood and family" rune by mistake. There's gotta be thousands and thousands of people :reddit-logo: could pick as a model fighter for Ukraine but somehow the Nazis keep rising to the top.

Yeah I'm pretty sure most people would find that relatively safe, increasingly so the further you get away from the two main nazi associated gods of thor and odin, loki would probably just be taken as a marvel fan cause otherwise he's a bit of an odd god to be into.
I think maybe certain combos like if you have some big fuckoff pitbull named Odin that might get a few glances, but for the most part I doubt people would judge that much for a dogs name, having its name in runes on the tag would probably just be considered cutesy, if a bit impractical.
I wouldn't call Thor nazi associated, certainly not to the same extent Odin has become. Nazis might like him but his popularity is too wide to be just a Nazi one and he remains the best known and most popular of the old Norse gods, as he has been since pre-Christian times. Virtually anyone who grew up with Norse mythology has a soft spot for this temperamental but ultimately good-natured brawler.

Depends on which runes. There are specific ones, like odal, that are used pretty much exclusively by Nazis. Odal by itself is like 80-90% chance of Nazi. Tyr and Algiz together - 100% nazi. And, honestly, if you get any runic stuff expect to get stink eyes from leftists, jews, and other people who have to keep an eye out for this stuff. There's a lot of dumb but well meaning neopagans who refuse to engage with the racist history of the revival of norse mythology, but there's also a fuckload of nazis and assorted chuds who use runes these days.

Viking reenactors and asatru believers can be one of two things: Insane nazis or chill hippie types. There is no middle ground.
Thing is norse symbols are a part of the danish peoples history, before we got christianized danish people believed in norse mythology, honestly people on the internet saying scandinavians are nazis or what not for using them, thats pretty offensive.

I had to put together a whole pamphlet once for spotting nazi shit in the wild because I used to hang out with a bunch of Larpers who, predictably, thought vikings were cool and would use runes on their stuff. The pamphlet broke down the difference between "Probably just a viking weeb" and "This dude is definitely a fucking nazi watch out". It blew people's minds when they suddenly had context for what the odal rune meant to nazis, or that tod and leben together were 100% a sign of a nazi.
