Gas stoves/ovens, as they're implemented in American homes, are stupid and clearly dangerous. They could be fixed, but absolutely no home owner will actually do so unless someone makes them at gunpoint.
That said I'm gonna stand up for gas ovens as being the ideal way to cook pizza. The American electrical system simply cannot provide the required heat or consistency for optimal pie.
My solution? Communal pizza ovens on every block, constantly firing to provide perfect and safe pies to all.
I hate liberals, but I think I hate conservatives more. Just the child mentality of "ANYONE TELLING ME ANYTHING IS BAD" is so annoying.

Gas appliance exhaust is toxic and needs adequate ventilation, which large swathes of American residences don't have.
Someone in government gets the idea to ban gas appliances in residences, which negatively effects working class people, rather than changing building codes to mandate adequate ventilation to the exterior of the building (which kitchens should all have regardless of what heat source), which would cost capital more money.
Another government official floats the idea of an $840 tax rebate (you can tell it's early in workshopping because there's no means-testing), which would only cover a garbage-ass glasstop electric stove (induction stoves [range + electric oven] start at $1300, and they are superior to both gas and electric ranges).
The usual Twitter crowds misconstrue the announcements and each other's arguments for clout (whether deliberate or not is inconsequential).

gas stoves in and of themselves aren't bad but for some reason they're allowed to install "ductless" range hoods in the US where it just runs all the fumes through a filter

The company behind the study is called “Carbon-Free Buildings.” That company is a partner of the World Economic Forum and has a true-believer CEO who wants to rid the world of all carbon emissions (which is impossible and would lead to mass extinction).

I don't know or care, all I know is that I hate electric stoves because they're shit (even the fancy induction ones) and if it wasn't for having a gas stove, I wouldn't be able to cook with all the rolling electricity blackouts.
And yes, the rolling electricity blackouts will come for you too. Just look at Texas last year.
I'd probably still prefer a crappy electric plate over a gas stove, fucking insane to me to read stories like "Oh yeah haha once I woke up in the middle of the night and realized the gas was on and if I turned the knob one way I'd have just shut it off no problem but if I turned it the other I'd have had a fireball right in my face, luckily I turned it the right way".
I mean I guess theres probably safety measures on nicer gas stoves, but then we're in the bougie argument shit again, "Oh your gas stove automatically tries to not kill you if you forget to turn it off properly? Ok PMC." Might be different if Id grown up with it, but I still forget shit with electric or induction stoves so not having an open flame and flowing gas in the house is a nice reassurance.
It's also a PR move by the natural gas companies to distract from the recent trend of legislation banning natural gas lines in new residential construction and generally to sour people on the idea of regulating natural gas
