Watched the first episode of this and it was literally the worst tv I've ever seen.

I regret to inform you that "ex-military space cowboy with strong moral compass" and "cop in LA" are not as far apart as you might think.

Also, cannabal space killers are standing in for native Americans, Firefly watchers.

I've never actually seen Firefly, I like NF for his guest role in Big Mouth. I just don't want to start an "awesome show" that I know was canceled after 1 season and will never be picked up.

Why did Nathan Fillion have to do nothing but copaganda after Firefly? The first few seasons of Castle were fun to watch when I was still lib-brained and Dr Horribles Sing A Long Blog will hold a place in my heart despite Penny being a prize to be won and not a character on her own, but what else has he done?

I wish Fillion ( who still defends Joss’s actions) a very happy “career stalling while Alan Tudyk’s explodes”

My friend’s hyperfixation is watching Joss Wheedon stick a gun into whatever career and respect he had left so I get to hear about all of the fun shit like “Joss Whedon enacted sex fantasies based on The Dollhouse with a female pickup artist” and “Nathan Fillion told people to shut up about Joss and also bullied Stana Katic on the set of Castle so much they were forced to go to counseling because she couldn’t stop crying when he was around”

Haha I mean that's literally what the first few episodes were about. Super ham-fisted police captain "You're too old to be a cop Nathan Fillion, you're 52. I don't like you and I'm going to drive you out of this police force for being too old". Followed by the double captain saying "Captain I don't care if you don't like Nathan Fillion for being old, I'm your captain and you will let him be on the force." Bonus in the 52 year old lead is dating a 32 year old woman in the show.

Nathan Fillion is borderline geriatric. How the hell is he cast in the lead of a show called "The Rookie"? He should be doing a sequel to Gran Turino.

that's the premise. it's high concept. the pilot introduces him as a contractor in his 50s who intervenes in a robbery to save some peoples' lives. his wife had divorced him years earlier and his kid is grown, so he decides to start over, move across country and go to the police academy for the LAPD because they will take anyone due to some prohibition in age discrimination, with the caveat that he pass the physical test

they try to wash him out, but he succeeds and earns a position as a trainee. the department wants him gone before he "has a heart attack on the job", but he brings his age and experience to the role and proves himself a valuable addition to the force.

it's stupid and worse than slop, but I am a Nathan-head so I watched it. the show starts off as "stupid/childish" and drops off into the realm of "insane/unwatchable" very quickly.

I wish his talents were used elsewhere.

That sounds about like how Castle shook out.

I wish his talents were used elsewhere.

I'm amazed he isn't doing Jim Office's job as Jack Bauer or Chris Jesus's job as Mario

Take another one for the team and check out the spinoff which has the same premise, but it's feds instead of cops.

I only gave this a try because I like Nathan Fillion a little.

I've kept watching out of hate and they literally are under fire every episode. It's like they think cops are just getting shot at 3 times a week.

Completely unrealistic, only one out of seven cops in that pic shows any degree of thumbing when they all should look like :the-pigs:
